I'm a bit of a pessimist--a senior, too--and I wanted to know if my statistics would grant me admission into a liberal arts college. My stats: GPA=3.0 weighted, 1590 SAT (I was unprepared and taking it again in two weeks), and I have 3 AP classes; all the others are honors (except electives, obviously). I do a bunch of things outside of school, however, I don't exactly have many community service hours. What are my chances of getting into a place like Emerson, Bennington, Skidmore and colleges the like?

P.S. My GPA and SAT scores will probably go up by .3 and 250-300 points, respectively; I can't exactly tell the future but I'm pretty sure my stats will go up.

You might have a shot at Bennington, but Emerson has become more selective recently, and I know that they like higher scores than yours. It is unrealistic to presume that your scores will increase by 250-300 points. It would be great if they did, but you should create a list based on your present statistics. Are you interested in theater? Are you determined to remain in the Northeast? Can we presume that money isn’t much of an issue? If you’re willing to travel a little more, look into Warren Wilson College, near Asheville, NC, or Saint Mary’s (don’t let the name scare you - it’s not Catholic) in MD. Maybe Franklin Pierce or Goddard? Look at the “Colleges That Change Lives.” Some, like Reed, are definitely out of reach for you, but some others might be possible. If you’re willing to travel across the country, consider Evergreen State in WA, or Whittier, in CA. Guilford, in NC, and Eckerd or Flagler in FL, might be fits if you like warmer weather.

Muhlenberg has a GREAT theater program - check it out. It’s a reach due to your SAT score but if your score increases to 1700 (as is most likely), you will have a shot.
Skidmore is out of reach.
What state are you in?
What’s your parents’ budget?
