Dont know what my overall chances are, but I'm told that scores are only one part of the selection. Anybody on this thread know of people with these scores getting in?
Asian Indian, Illinois
Applied to AEDC&Milton
No FA needed. Applying for 9th grade
Piano, Swim, sax, student council
Probably 2 above avg recs and 3 outstanding: though I saw none: school always particular on total confidentiality for all.

Interviewed before I took the test. Interviews at Milton Choate Deerfield went very well: Interviewer said "you are the kind of person we want" in two places. In both, at end of interview they told us (both parents and I were at the interview) that "we hope to see you here this fall". In one school interviewer wrote long encouraging email back to me and my parents after the interview, but my test scores were not available to them at that time. Andover interview went OK only. Outstanding interview at Groton, at end of interview Dean of admissions came out and told us (parents and I) that he "wants to see me here this fall". But didnt like groton so didnt apply. Parents interview well (Dad did Harvard stint and brief faculty; Mom also Ivy)

Did others get similar positive feedback from interviewer?

I took tests cold, did not ever open any prep tests etc. In fact, decided to think of BS only around Thanksgiving! Hadnt heard of SSAt until then, and didnt even know of the existence of these BS names until Nov

So, any one that can make reasonable suggestions?

Finally, are we supposed to contact our admission officers for confirmation/feedback/be remembered now that the applications are all in to keep in touch....or just wait till March 10

Your interviews sound strong. Probably in a case like yours, your essays will mean a lot. Your scores could bring you down, but as you said, they are only a part of getting in. You have chances, definitely, but I think much of it will depend (1) on whether they need a saxaphone player, swimmer, or someone from Illinios and (2) what they think of your essays. If you have any new information, then sure, send it along. Then you may join the club of people holding our breath until 10 March. :)

Andover: High Reach
Exeter: High Reach
Deerfield: High Reach
Choate: Reach
Milton: Reach

Your interviews and recommendations seem great, but your SSAT scores are a little low for these schools. Have you considered adding a safety school?

You have good chances. I suggest you apply to other schools because admissions is tricky. Your SSAT's are kind of low but you not needing FA might bring you back up.

Well, I just got my results back and i did horrendous. I was in the 62nd percentile so does that basically mean my chances at Andover are pretty much shattered?

ChunkyT -- I am sorry to hear that. I know you were expecting to do better based on your practice test. If you've done all the work, go ahead and submit your application. If I remember correctly, you were testing the waters with Andover and thought you might try for more if you were not successful this year. If you don't succeed this year, you have months to think about what you want to do next. If you love the idea of attending a US boarding school, perhaps you could develop a balanced list (read -- not just reaches) for next year and try again. There are many wonderful schools for you to discover.
BTW -- If you really think you can do much better and perhaps your nerves got the better of you -- I think you can still take the Feb. SSAT. Check with Andover.

dont submit 5 recs, u r stretching it...people dump the adcoms with recs..remember the thicker your file, the more insecure u appear....one extra rec might do you good..5 recs is simply pushing it

ok thanks a lot Burb Parent and Msu..but i dont think taking it again would be a great idea, since i dont want to pay another sum of money to take it again when im not even that serious about it. But if I were to go try again for grade 11, are a majority of schools looking for atheletes rather than the more academic people? From all I see here, AESD is a longshot for grade 11.

I have quite a few recomendations (St. Mark's is getting like seven from me, but they ask for them), but I think it's all right, because they're all very specific and have to do with very different parts of my life, from people who have very different things to say about me. I think when it's bad is when they get like ten letters all saying 'is an excellent student, is academically capable', etc., very general things that don't say much about the kid.
