I've been told often my writing's interesting, and I explained my situation as to why my grades dropped (I took my SATs at a bad time, and it affected my grades...)

Wowwwwwwwwwwwwww. Sorry. I thought I put it down. University of Hartford, elementary education. Their elementary education program isn’t special, but my focus was going to be art.

My DD was accepted to U of H with a 660 Verbal and a 620 math. Her GPA was only 2.9 and she was in the bottom 20% of her class. She was accepted directly into the education program and was offered money.

HOWEVER, when we went for an accepted student meeting near our home, we were very disappointed. The video seemed to deal entirely with partying and sports (neither of which my DD had any interest in). The school staff was unable to answer questions about the academics. At one point, the dean there commented that it was spring break week so maybe they should have brought some students to the meeting! There weren’t enough chairs in the room (we had seats) and they even ran out of soda and it was at a hotel, so how did that happen?

My DD is very happy at a SUNY where the entire bill equals what she’d been offered in finaid from Hartford.

On the other hand, U of H does have a 2 year program in its very own community college type setting that they steer kids with lesser credentials to. Also, if you’re majoring in art, the portfolio will be more important. My friend’s daughter had very poor boards (LD/ADHD) but is a phenomenal artist. She was offered acceptance to the art department and the 2 year program. She was likewise unimpressed with a local accepted student meet and is at another college.
