Currently, I have a 3.5 GPA (W) and a 3.7 (UW). I’m number 52 out 281 in my class. So far I’ve taken 4 Honors classes and I’m a sophomore. I have not taken the SAT or ACT yet ( I have done both the PSAT and Pre-Act)

*Some of these classes are not offered at an Honors level at my school.

Youth Council for my city
Volunteered at a local hospital
In a club outside of school for one of my local sororities

Financial Aid? Yes

State? NC
Ethnicity? African American
Gender? Female

Hooks: I was raised by a single mother, in one of the worst cities in NC (According to our crime rate and unemployment rate) other than that I don’t have one,

I know my chances of going to Duke University are high but what are some things I can improve to boost my chances?

P.s: I would like to become an RN.

Duke is a Top 10 university with most of its applicants having above a 4.0 GPA. That being said, your chances of admission to Duke are very very low. Even if you manage to score well on the SAT/ACT Duke will still be a High Reach. Apply, because it’s your dream school, but be sure to include match and safety schools on your list.

Study for you standardized tests and maintain that high GPA! GOOD LUCK!

Not trying to be a dick but getting into duke with even a 4.7 W GPA can be a crapshoot… Schools of Duke’s caliber are highly unpredictable and unless you are recruited, no one really has a ‘high chance’ of getting into those kinds of schools

Excuse me I made a mistake I meant to say that my chances weren’t very high.

@DeneeH00 STUDY. STUDY. STUDY! For your SATs/ACT and your current classes. Start on you personal statement and have it get checked over and consistently make revisions.
