My dad is giving me the ultimatum

Thanks for letting us know the outcome. I’m sure you will end up with a fantastic experience at Berkeley. It is a great school.

@sevmom - That moneyball piece is hilarious. Thank you.

Good Luck @richmond22 ! I’m sure you’ll learn to enjoy Cal and appreciate your opportunities. To a certain degree, people make their own happiness wherever they go…

To the OP:
Good luck at Cal! It’s a good school and it won’t be the end of the world. If you decide to go to grad school, you can always do that on the east coast.

For future reference…
Travelling to Berkeley via air - flights can sometimes be less expensive in/out of the Oakland airport. Also, Oakland is often still operational on days when SFO has such bad weather (rain) that SFO has to cancel a lot of flights. Southwest Airlines flies a lot out of OAK.

Since you’ll be living in Berkeley, every person who lives in the Bay Area at some point should go to Zachary’s Pizza. The wait is worth it. http://zacharys.com/locations/berkeley/

The rivalry between Cal and Stanford is long standing and pretty legendary in the Bay Area and now you get to be a part of it!

This article from 4 years ago, but it’s still useful. Best dim sum restaurants in San Francisco - which you can get to on BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit). http://www.sfweekly.com/foodie/2012/02/08/san-franciscos-top-10-dim-sum-restaurants

FYI - there’s an IKEA nearby in Emeryville.

In case you need a car for a couple of hours to run errands somewhere → http://www.zipcar.com/universities/the-university-of-california-berkeley. My sister used Zip Car a lot when she lived in San Francisco and didn’t own her own car at the time.
