Not too bad, right? How much do other dorms cost?

What…?

Most single dorms cost well above 5,000.

I think he’s quoting the per semester room rate.

Gogobet was quoting the rate for the whole year. Here is Ashton-Johnston price for next year for a residence scholar single. Of course, they have to do “chores”.

Contract Term: Wednesday, August 26, 2009 through Friday, May 07, 2010
Room Rate: $2,940.00
Activity Fee: $24.00

Are chores really tough?

Nothing extreme. Usually one chore a week that takes fifteen to thirty minutes. Vacumming the carpet, taking out the trash, cleaning showers and restrooms.

Sorry, my mistake–it used to be Wilkie that offered these kind of discount rates. I wasn’t aware that Ashton offered these discount rates now.

Calcruzer–Yeah, Ashton does offer them now, although I’m currently unsure who would want to live in that insect infested dump, let alone clean it…but they’ll soon be gone!!

Co-ops really aren’t that bad. I lived on one in Briscoe my freshman year and as long as people actually did their chores, it was cleaner than floors that were cleaned daily by maintenance.

My son just moved into Ashton Johnston today. He had the same room as last year and it underwent some nice renovations over the summer. New carpet, fresh coat of paint, and entirely new furniture that looks really good and is quite functional. If you don’t mind a single in a non-party dorm, the upgrades make residence scholars a great deal.
