My family makes 70k do I qualify?

Im a junior that lives in San Bernardino, CA in a family of four. I’m very confused with FAFSA & how financial aid so I was wondering if I would qualify for it and if I do, generally how much? I want to go to UCSC , thank you.

FAFSA is a financial aid application form. It doesn’t give money. It collects information primarily to,determine eligibility for federally funded need based aid.

In CA, you could be eligible for the Calgrant. Ask your school counselor about that.

At 70k AND if you have assets less than 70k (excluding your home and retirement accounts) and family of 4 you qualify for a Calgrant A if you have a gpa of 3,0. Calgrant will pay your tuition and fees for 4 years. You may also get some university grant. You will likely have to take a student loan of 5,500 the first year and, each year after likely have to contribute at least 3k from a summer job. If you don’t have 3k then your family will have to come up with it in addition to their portion. I don’t think you will be eligible for a Pell Grant but you have to file the FAFSA to get calgrant and student loan.
