My final chance thread (I have an extremely low GPA and average test scores)

Male from Arkansas
SAT (taken twice): 2030 (650R, 700M, 680W)
Unweighted GPA: 3.17
Weighted GPA: 3.27
Class Size: 600 (public school)
Class rank: top 17-20%

Honors Math courses 8th through 12th grade, 3 AP's: AP Statistics (4), AP Physics (2), and AP Computer Science (1).

My grade trend is essentially 3.40 freshman year, 2.90 sophomore year, 3.40 junior year, and 3.60 senior year.

EC's: High school baseball, special needs brother, a little volunteering (and by a 'little' I mean only several hours one day), member of three clubs.

Rec's: Even though I got a 2 on the Physics exam, my Physics teacher is writing my rec. Although I obviously cannot know for sure, I think he will say only positive things and even spin the fact that my 2 on the exam was his fault --- it hardly was. So, point being, my rec should be strong.

Essay: Assume it is at least averagely good.

Here is my list of colleges:

Boston University
Case Western Reserve University
Depauw University
Hendrix College
Illinois Wesleyan University
Lafayette College (I'm going to apply ED)
Rhodes College
St. Olaf College

bumpppppppppppp

I don't see how a 3.17 is extremely low.

It is relative to the users of this forum...

And, to a lesser extent, relative to the colleges on my list.

Boston University--Slight Reach
Case Western Reserve University--Slight Reach
Depauw University--Safe Match
Hendrix College--Match
Illinois Wesleyan University--Match
Lafayette College (I'm going to apply ED)--Match
Rhodes College--Reach
St. Olaf College (not familiar with this college, so I don't know your chances here)

Case Western supposedly has an 'open door' admissions policy, which means you can switch your intended major even if means switching schools. And since Case Western is only strong in math, science, engineering, etc. (and very weak in nearly everything else), is Case still a slight reach if I apply with something in humanities as my intended major, for example?

Rhodes will be toughest for me?

And, last thing, is Lafayette really a match for me if i apply ED? I hope so...

bumpppppppppppppppp

..............................

it seems like i always have to bump my threads several times...lol

Is it because most of you guys are unfamiliar with my colleges?

Your scores are OK..I think St.Olaf is a match...really...

hehe.......~

I was told by two people (I think) in my first thread that St. Olaf will be a slight reach to reach.....

St. Olaf is a reach-Test scores are fine, but GPA is low with limited extracurriculars. They also look for more than "averagely good" on essays.

^ I meant relative to their applicant pool.
