He got in. He told me that they switched him from CAS to another school (forgot the name, it's the rolling decision one). They said that he was more into the "science" field. I really did not know adcoms did this....do admission officers move your app to another school if they really want you or something?

CALS was the school they moved him to

Sounds like he's lieing to you...

i have never heard of this.

maybe his major didnt correspond with the right school?

pardon me...but can an engineering major minor in Bio...its because i really like physiology...which school CALS or CAS should i minor from? do both offer bio?

You can't minor across school boundaries.

is that true???
why? i was really looking forward to spanish and biology apart from my engineering major

Hello, I am a Cornell graduate (BA and MENG). There are many programs in place that allow students to perform interdisciplinary studies (even across school boundaries). You can either apply directly to the College Scolars program (which lets you make up your own major while also completing other ones without the humanities requirements) or simply complete the required coursework for your major (engineering or otherwise) and minor in whatever you want.

Arjun, search the cornell website.

wrxstiav is NOT lying!!!

I applied to Cornell [class of 2009], and Wendy emailed me, saying that after having read my application, they were convinced that CAS would suit me better than CAAP. And they asked if they could shift my app from CAAP to CAS. I declined of course, and I was rejected from CAAP.

I applied now [class of 2010] after taking a gap year, and realizing what i really wanted. And this time, i chose CAS. I'd learned my lesson.

So on reading apps, they can always suggest a move to the applicant, though subject to his/her consent.
