My GPA and Transferring

Hello,

So, I received my scores back from the University I am currently attending. According to the scores my current GPA is a 3.74. I was in two clubs for the first semester: Philosophy Club and Green Club. I didn’t hear back from any other clubs when I applied at the house opening. I guess I will see if I contact them for next semester, so I can add more clubs to my resume. My question is with 3.74 being the grade of my first semester what are my chances of getting into a school like the University of Berkley. I understand it is very difficult but I am still curious and would like to apply for the school.
Technically, my GPA should have been at least 3.8+ however two homework’s for an Online class were lost in the system and when the teacher asked for them I had already cleared my Disk-Drive with all my homeworks like two weeks prior :frowning:
So, let’s say I do even better next semester and join more clubs, what are my chances? I can also speak pretty well in two foreign languages (Korean and Japanese). I could add this onto my essay if I apply.

Do you think I have a shot? ]
Also, do you believe a 3.74 is a good GPA? All opinions are welcome. The more the better.
Thank you!

Also, If I apply to a difficult school like, Berkley after two semesters at my University that I am attending right now will The University of Berkley or a highly competitive school require me to take the SAT or ACT?

Thanks

You’re probably better off waiting until the end of sophomore year, so you can get your GPA as high as possible.

UC’s require 60 semester/90 quarter units for transfer applicants (usually Junior level standing). Your GPA looks good for first semester, but you will need to take the UCB course requirements for transferring. Check assist.org and see the UCB website for transfer requirements.

HS grades and test scores are not considered, only your academic record at your university or CC.

“Berkeley” (spelled in this manner) is part of the UC (University of California) system. The “University of California at Berkeley” is also called UCB, Cal and UCBerkeley. It is not the University of Berkeley.

Berkeley is a tough school to gain admission especially if you are coming from another university. Priority transfer admissions go to California Community college students. You need to follow the transfer requirements.

If you are at an out of state university, or a non-California resident, plan on spending $55K per year without any financial aid from the state of California.
