My Middlebury Jam: I Missed The Preapp Deadline

So, if you didn't already guess... I missed the preapp deadline. I called Middlebury at 5:20, but their offices close at 5.. Convenient, eh? And tomorrow is Saturday! Sweeet. Not really though. So, basically I'm trying to decide whether I should write this essay seeing that I would need to send it out tomorrow. I filled out the preapp, but I didn't pay for it yet, seeing that if they won't accept it, I don't want to throw $65 down the drain. So, do you guys think I should write the essay anyway? Or do you think Middlebury is strick with its deadlines and it will not accept my application now... This is what I get for applying to 15 colleges, I lose track of all of the deadlines...... UGH! Help me, please?

Still apply, they won't hold it against you. Give them a call monday.

You could give it a try, but I've seen discussions on CC that said the deadline is a firm one. I don't know what to recommend, but sorry it happened to you!

The whole Middlebury application process is conducive to jams. In my opinion. Just send it, 65$ is a drop in the bucket when compared to what a college education will be worth.

I missed the deadline too (was waiting for my early), but I emailed the office and they said they'd accept my app if I sent it in by the following day. This was last Friday or so, though, so I don't know. If you like the school enough I think it's worth applying. Start on the essay and email them or give them a call on Monday.

Yeah, I wrote the essay. Umm. When I did do the preapp yesterday, I didn't pay at the time. How do you pay?

I thought you must pay WITH the preapplication? That's how I did it. You need a valid credit card from the main companies (Mastercard, Visa, AmExp). Just punch in the numbers and bingo.

I think you can call in the payment with a CC #. My computer spazzed when I filled out my pre-app and I was unable to pay online. I have to call them with a CC #.

Now that's funny.. the computer spazzing out during the application fill-out process. So, let me ask you guys - is middlebury one of your top choices on your list?

It's in my top 5.. but I'm not sure how it'll go seeing as I filled out my paper app with BLUE ink instead of the black.. I completely forgot even though I read the instructions. That's what I get for filling out 4+ apps at the same time, with the majority being online.

I had a problem with paying too. I e-mailed them (on the day the fee was due), and they had me call in with a credit card.

Don't worry about it! When one of the directors of admissions came to my HS to give an info session, she said that it wasn't a big deal at all if the pre-app was late, that they just liked to start getting things organized. You're fine. I also had trouble with the pre-app, I filled it out online, and sent it without paying, intending to pay over the phone--but when we called to pay, they hadn't received it at all, so I had to do it over again. It worked the second time though.
