So I got accepted to Frostburg State University, and I live in Anne Arundel County Maryland.. I have been dreaming big fro university for years. My dad doesn't want me to go because its too far (3 hrs). He thinks I wont be able to handle myself I have to commit by May 1, how do i convince him! pleas help! I really want to go :'(. He wants me to go to community college instead Can someone give me some advice Im so stressed out and i feel so bad. I just have been stressed out at home all my life and im excited for college freedom I have been trying to talk to him al day but it turns into him yelling at me and attacking e. I really need help. I really need to go to university. Idk how I will survive at hoe taking college classes with stress. What are some key points to help convince my dad? He thinks Frostburg is dangerous and a party school or something, and he doesnt feel safe sending me there. How do i make it look like a good idea to him? Thanks.

Sorry for the spelling errors. I was in a rush :P.

Can your family afford to send you to the university? That may be an issue. Ask your Dad what will happen after you attend the CC? Does he intend on having you transfer or just stay at home after that? For some reason, he doesn’t want to let you go. Are you 18 yet? Being a bit of a rebel, I would commit to Frostburg and tell your Dad that “I really didn’t want to miss out on an opportunity to go to a university”. Have your HS counselor talk to them. If your parents really say no, then you can tell Frostburg later that your options have changed.

The school is not across the country-it’s 3 hours away. You may want to make them feel better by saying something like, “I realize that it is away from home but I would really need you visit me often, and for me to come home too”.

I would recommend what @“aunt bea” said.

Thanks everyone! I ended up committing, and I will be attending Frostburg this fall! Thanks for the advice, love ya :).

Who is paying for this? If dad is and dad doesn’t want you to go there, you have a big problem now.
