My poor friend thinks he got into UCLA

He is an architecture major for UCLA (a friend of a friend, not really my friend). He got Alumni scholarship application and thought it was acceptance. Then i guess he got called by a grad student saying his portfolio was really impressive and the student asked if he was going to the open house thing.

This is what i've heard from his friend (my friend). I'm pretty sure he's not in. I'm a little thrown by the grad student calling him but maybe this is calling?

Either way, he has a high gpa and has taken an architecture class or program at ucla and gotten an A or As, so he has a good chance. So i'm not going to burst his bubble. Hopefully he'll actually get in.

yea, he might have got in. there was a discussion about this earlier about art or architecture major getting invitations, and since he applied to a different school considering most people apply to the college of letters and sciences, then its likely he could and has a high probability of getting in.

If people are just egging him on, just to disappoint him later, then thats something else

yeah. i will feel so bad if he get rejected.

why you are so sure that he is not in?

i read the “acceptance letter” and it was just the alumni scholarship application. i think he has a great shot. i’m just pretty sure he’s not in for sure yet.

maybe this is normal? is what i meant to say in my first post.

That’s great news for your friend! Remember that the Scholarships have nothing to do with admission, but the part about call and open house thing is a great indicator!!! [:

did he receive an open house invite in the mail? Also the call, IS a very good sign.

cinamint: yeah i think so, and i think he got called by the grad student to confirm he was going or something like that. i applied to letters and science so i have no clue how this whole process works.

but it’s good you all think he’s going to get in. i would feel soo bad for him thinking for more than a month he got in and then not.

I think he might be bluffing…Grad students do not have access to admission applications.

really? i’m pretty sure he was telling the truth.

grad students do work for other people though (including undergraduates)

and undergrad departments
