my room mate is a mess

So much for face book and room bug. I was asked to room together by my current roommate on roombug. I checked out his facebook page and he really seemed like a cool guy. I dont need a friend just a friggin room mate that can at least talk to me.

From day one on move in. I knew this guy had issues. No eye contact and very little if any coversation. I even asked him if he was ok and I just heard a grunt.

SO what can I DO? Should I go to my dorm manager. I could speak with my RA. But he will probably suggest that I speak with my room mate and try to handle it. How can I? he wont even talk to me.

Any suggestions or advice would be appreciated.

is he being a nuisance or is he ignorable?

I feel for you. Send this to the parent’s forum and see if someone doesn’t have some decent advice.

This is tough. Maybe give him a chance to loosen up and see if he comes out of his shell a bit. Keep trying to initiate conversation. You can speak with your RA about it if that does not help. If all else fails and it really bothers you, you can request a room change, but do talk with RA first. And beware, you may end up jumping out of frying pan into fire, if you switch roommates and get someone even more difficult to live with.

Yeah, good luck man, but be careful about changing rooms and ending up with someone worse who may physically bother you - as in messing with your stuff or snoring (one of my roommates snores like a dying duck and haven’t gotten any sleep since I got here, even with ear plugs and nasal strips and other tactics).

He’s not creepy or anything as in being suspicious or shady?

I will pass this on. My son asked me to post this for him. Because he didnt want his room mate to know.

No he is an OK person not creepy just not interested in ANYTHING.

Someone recommended sending a message on facebook. Just telling him how my son feels.

thanks for all the advice. my son told me he appreciates it.
