My siblings keep saying I won't get in: I'm scared!

Your siblings are correct, confused.

Oh, wait. I retract my statement of a "good chance..." I glanced at the stats, saw URM and thought she had an SAT of 1320. 1180... near 1200. You stand a low decent chance. It's possible if they like you. But, 1180 and from a good school? They will see that you were well off in educational opportunity and won't excuse your test scores as they would a kid from lets say inner-city Atlanta in a school with an SAT avg of 725, gangs, low grad rate, etc. If you were from a school like this and were economically disadvantaged, then an 1180 would look a lot better, and you would fair a much better chance. However, with given circumstances, hit those SAT prep books!

what i HATE about affirmative action is how the students have crappy stats and ec's but then they think they can get into an ivy league cuz of their skin color. i actually change my mind.... <5% Chance.

I feel you would add a lot of diversity.

I don't rely on AA to get in. Why is that everytime a black person with a bad stat gets criticized for depending on AA and a white person with similar stats don't? I listed my race because everyone do that too (white, hispanic), but when black people do that, they get replies about AA. This is so ridiculous!

I agree confused. Good luck with the application.

still u wont get in.

Agreed...and what's probably going to put you under is your disregard of basic grammar.

Ok. Ok. I got it. You don't have to keep bringing this thread up with harsh (but honest) comments.

one more time: u wont get in.

That was rude and unnecessary surfed_pipeline. I usually don't do this, but I really feel the need to step in and say something. Why be so obnoxious? Confused took the rude comments quite gracefully, and asked everyone to stop, and yet you come back with more. Get a life.

damn straight filmxoxo. and hey confused, it never hurts to apply, but dont depend on princton. there are plenty of good schools out there; im sure you can find one that suits you. also guys, if you somehow fail to get into one of the worlds most selective universities, dont feel bad. its not fair how people put such high regard in a select few universities, while they ignore plenty of top universities that arnt in the top 10. now that i have said that, its back to trying to get info on how to get into hyps lol.

'I don't rely on AA to get in. Why is that everytime a black person with a bad stat gets criticized for depending on AA and a white person with similar stats don't?
There are virtually no white people applying to Princeton with those stats.

Applying or getting in?

"There are virtually no white people applying to Princeton with those stats."

I'm going to go with "applying."

Although no one would get in with those stats anyway.

Actually, a hispanic girl from Compton was accepted to Harvard with an 1180 SAT. Big disadvantages and such (when you hear people talk about California dreams, they aren't talking about Compton). With her background, she seemed to be a hard worker, very enthuthiastic about her work, etc. but English was her second language so she had a 580 Verbal and a 600 Math. But, with the dedication she put into her work despite having to work since elementary and middle school she deserved it.

The great thing about Harvard is that anybody who adds diversity can get in.

"No one" is a bit of hyperbole.

Yes, there are exceptions, but the odds are very slim, let's be realistic.

Yeah, she had a lot to offer, in my opinion, and if your SAT is at or around 1200 you can generally do the work.

Oh, yes, I do agree chances are slim with a few getting in. But, they have to have some hardships and really show how deserving they are. Or, donate a new library to the school.
