im really freaking out because i just hate standardized tests and can never do amazing on them..i have really good credentials (straight A's, AP Courses, number 1 in my class, good ECS) but my scores do not reflect any of this..

basically..can ppl still get into penn with these scores?

First time:
650 M 710 CR 670 W

second time i took it blew:
590 M 690 CR 680 W

SAT II's
720 US history
530 Chem (appalling)
and two more in DEC hoping to nail them!

I keep reading about everyone getting into these incredible scores and it's so disheartening =[ is my dream school crushed ??

i know how you feel! Are you thinking of applying early to penn or regular? If I were you, I would go regular decision and study really hard and try to get better testing scores. Retaking Chemistry SAT II will likely help a lot.

Your scores are not dismal, nor are they competitive for Penn. Your high school record will likely mitigate the discrepancy and your chances remain at a low/mid reach.

Unfortunately, Penn places a great deal of emphasis on things like SAT scores and class rank. This is one of the many tools they have used to leverage themselves into the top 10 undergrad programs and snatch ever more impressive students.

Your chances of acceptance, as a result, seem somewhat unlikely. Good luck.

Of course; but her SATs tip her the other way as well.

I think aside from standardized tests you have a great shot. Have you considered applying to top LACs like Swarthmore, Amherst, etc. which may place less emphasis on SATs and SAT IIs? Think about it.

hey eri196
u think ur scores suck...take a look at mine...i'm in the exact position ur in only my scores r even lower!! also number 1 n my class..i've got a thread posted bout the same topic..under really low standardized test scores..i don't think we should give up lets jus hope for the best n if we get in we can prove to everyone tat sat's n acts arne't all tat important....

haha well im glad im not alone..and ive just read through your thread. somee of the feedback is encounraging, others just bluntly say its useless. are u taking the SAT I's again?

yea but i haven't done any prep or anything so im sure the scores aren't gonna b any better...i jus took the acts again last sat i think i did better...i hope so neway wbu?
