My TAG major disappeared; Need to apply for 2013! What do I do now?

Hello everyone,

I'm having trouble grasping the concept of transferring, how it works and why it's so complicated. So, please bear with me.

I'm not sure if I'm in a bad situation or simply panicking with no cause. For the last 2 years I have been working on courses for a Biomedical Computing major for UCI (I'm currently attending at IVC). Since now it prime time to apply for TAG Spring 2013, I"ve started working on my TAG app. Apparently, Biomedical computing is no longer in neither the TAG app, ASSIST.org, or anything similar. When I use my year old ASSIST link for that major, I get an error "The agreement you selected was not available for 12-13. The agreement for 11-12 is shown instead."

I've searched other related majors with which I could apply with, but none can be finished "by the end of spring 2013." (Keep in mine I cannot have completed Biomedical computing either way because it's a 3 year major, my mistake for ever choosing it) Despite being a full time student for 2 years, taking summer class and never taking a break. I have finished all my GE, but lack some courses for ASSIST for my new chosen major (chosen based on least amount of new courses I must take and currently accepted by TAG) Biological Sciences.

What should I do to transfer by Spring 2013? Did I do something wrong? What's the bottom line? Can I call someone to help me?

Thank you very much for your help!

I think the main problem is the college of Information Computer Science (ICS), where Biomedical Computing major lies, is now listed as one of the colleges/majors at Irvine that does not participate in TAG (see [Transfer Admission, Selection and Preparation](<a href=“Academic Resources | Office of Undergraduate Admissions | UCI”>Academic Resources | Office of Undergraduate Admissions | UCI))

I suggest you go right away to visit the xfer center at your CC. Probably would have been a good idea to have been working with them the past 2 years, but better late than never. Hopefully they can come up with a plan that lets you be eligible for TAG, and perhaps check with the ICS folks at Irvine to see what your chances of admission are w/o TAG to that major.

Also, no UC’s accept spring transfers except Merced I believe.

@mikemac: That’s not correct. The ICS major (which is only available to transfer students AFTER transfer) does not participate in TAG, but the other majors under Bren ICS do. But yeah, OP needs to get in touch with the UCI liaison at his/her CC right away.

I saw ICS listed on the web page reference before, but am happy to learn I had misinterpreted the page. Seems like the OP should be able to TAG after all then!

Thank you all for replying. :)

I guess I will contact the transfer people at my college Monday.
