I think because the science had much more questions over previous knowledge shows that ACT is trying to change the grading system. The science one is the only section where you cant get every single possible score from 1-36. This is because most ppl score already high on the section bc its simply looking at graphs and such. Adding a different element can ACT hope to make the grading system much better thus everyones score will most likely go up than last time if you taken actual science classes. So this makes me pretty pumped up :) tell me if im right or wrong

So your saying that since it had a lot of prior knowledge that they will have a nice curve?

yes because the curve has been so odd for so many years

this is my first time taking it, but yes i did notice the need for prior knowledge,
i missed the one about geology
but the chemistry ones were easy for me since i’m taking AP chem

same here i was like thank you God i took ap chem this year lol
like everything on there i wouldnt have understood at all if i didnt take it

I dont think it will be that nice

I took the December 08, April 09, and June 09 ACTs and I thought they were MUCH harder (I got 26,26, and 28 respectively)

I didnt study before I took the Oct 09 one and I thought it was much easier (like I think I’m getting a 34-36).

I hope your guess on this comes out to be true!

I noticed that A LOT more people took this month’s test. When I took it last month, there were only one full room of people, but this time, there had to be about 4 rooms full. I hope more people= nicer curve. Dx

Lol @ Mizz…

I live in a city with 4 high schools, and 3 more within 10 mins. All test centers were full in my entire county… there were 2 open within reasonable distance.

But then again, I registered a tad late. I did notice a lot more people though.

More people doesn’t necessarily mean nicer curve…question/section difficulty does and I agree with the OP, last Science in Sept had 2 outside knowledge and this one had about 4, the science curve in Sept was quite nice and I imagine that this one will be as well based on the same logic

there is a curve? I never knew that! it would probably be good to take it in october then, since most people who dont really care and just need a decent score to get into their college dont take it until then

true that but also alot of smart ppl want to have a last minute boost to their scores right before early decision so it might just cancel out

ya, you can look at it both ways…CC is not the place to try and find the “kids who don’t care” because the majority of CCers are overachievers who are retaking to go from low 30 to high 30
