Nasa Sharp

Did you guys get the letters for the residential components yet? If so, they're WAY ahead schedule. Is it too late to send in supplemental info?

i didnt get any letter for the residential program, im crossing my fingers i get an interview

did anyone hear from the residential program???

No letter for me either yet. Don't know if it's a good or bad sign:):(

same here. i think they've only done commuter so far....
or...i dunno
no phone calls, no lettesr, i'm going insane...

How many are they taking for the residential this year? I read 400 on their site, but I was thinking that included the commuter compenent. Hope the stats are big :).

Where should I send in supplemental information? Should I?

You guys still have another two weeks of waiting for a letter

Last year my letter came April 12th

Good Luck

Anyone get an interview from JPL yet?

Did anyone here get rejected already?? I did....lol :( Oh well I got RSI so screw you SHARP

zogoto..was that commuter or residential?

I posted before that S's rejection letter for residential said that 1,400 students applied for 140 residential apprenticeships. It's as hard to get NASA Sharp residential as it is to get into Harvard.

Harder if you're not an URM too.

NASA SHARP probably rejected zogoto so quickly because he was underage and the evil federal government is inflexible with its rules. I was probably rejected so quickly because I disclosed my Asperger's Syndrome - antisocial behavior was mentioned in a teacher rec so I pretty much had no choice but to disclose it. However it went, discrimination against people with mental illnesses does exist - one disclosed his and was rejected at all except 2, including his safety.

wait so people were already rejected for the residential program?

simfish, My son is a URM and is a junior getting As in calculus. He was rejected for NASA SHARP last year, too, but was one of only 4 rising juniors who attended last year U Wisconsin's summer engineering program for URMs who are rising juniors and seniors. NASA SHARP even has a residential site at U Wisconsin.

All I can say is that the NASA SHARP residential program is insanely hard to get in. I have no clue what they're looking for.

I was rejected from resedential. Yes, I have a feeling that it may have been because of my underage-ness, but my application may not have been very good either.

what is an URM?

URM= Under-Represented Minority. In the context of NASA Sharp this refers to " Blacks or African Americans, American Indians or Alaska Natives, Native Hawaiians or other Pacific Islanders, Hispanics or Latinos, females and persons with disabilities." (Taken directly from the program information on http://www.nasasharp.com)

lol, how bout INDIAN MALE BABY

im an URM definitely :)

Does anyone consider Greeks an under-represented minority?
