Nasa Sharp

But what about you? Do you feel strongly for any of those religions? Religion is important in the family (doesn't work out in my family -- my father's Christian, mother's atheist) but in the end it's a personal thing. I'm Christian; I live and breathe my faith. I'm tolerant of other religions, but I don't feel passionate for any of them.

And about the morgue thing... if you could explain why working in a morgue is something you enjoy doing in your essay, that would be very interesting.

Moreover, if your forte is anatomy and you want to go to med school, why are you focusing on astronomy-type stuff to look good for SHARP? You would have a better chance if you had emphasized, for example, how much you are interested in life support in space, etc, than what you think they want to see -- astronomy, cosmology, astrophysics.

how are you active in all of these clubs? i understand the whole idea of supporting everything, but what's the use if you aren't a key role in it? not for egocentric reasons but about impact. have you impacted anyone this way? if you have, then that's great. if not, you may want to rethink where your time is going....

and let me reiterate. never NEVER never do anythign to look good. you know why? because it's a line on a paper. no one's going to know what you went through for that ONE line and half the time they don't care. so if you're going to write that one like "volunteered..." or "joined..." then it should be worth something to YOU because it's YOUR application about YOUR life. don't tailor it for anyone else. life is so much more than just one thing or the other, it's about the big picture.

sorry if it sounds like i'm doing a sermon. i find this happen alot at my school...

NemesisFang, I'll have to be honest here but I honestly don't think you'll have a good chance. The acceptance rate is 10% and you'll be facing students who have maintained good grades and who have great SAT scores and who have great science awards. And since your science awards are not so uber-exceptional enough to offset your lower grades, SHARP might as well take someone else with both.

"i'm am in both the Republican club n Democrat club (treasurer in 1, historian in other, lol). Christian club, atheist club, agnotic club... well basically any club at school as u can tell... "

Somehow this seems like a joke.

has anyone heard anything or recieved interviews? when do they start the interviews??????

lol. Republican AND Democrat! Well now Clinton ain't the only one of them around...

Hmm - we all seem to have overlooked the minimum requirements...

Complete at least two mathematics courses and two science courses with an average grade of "B" or better in each course and an overall average of "B" or better in all other coursework.

good catch simfish

Why all the bashing when you can just wait and see what happens?
To me it seems your stats will be secondary (but not entirely) to URM stats. Did you all look at the videos posted on sharp site?

did anyone get an interview yet, april 15th is approaching fast

Well - the person hans't met the minimum requirements.

no phone calls =. we still have a month-ish so we can't really say much

anyone receive any news?

People are getting really impatient over this. :p

When news comes, it will come. Someone will obviously come up to this thread immediately upon receiving news.

Going to America tomorrow morning - hope they call me there while I'm there for a week!!

i hope they don't call the 30th/31st/1st/2nd - i have a comptn in hillsboro....

=</p>

i received a invitation letter for an interview on the 25th (commuter component)

does anyone know how much more they have to narrow the finalist pool (comprised of those selected to give interviews) down before the final participants are decided on?

no idea. when do you think they'll start residential interviews? ughhh

Decision: Rejected. Received a letter in the mail. I don't think I'll even apply next year- zogoto was rejected too!

You probably don't need high stats for the commuter component, but the residential component should be HIGHLY competitive, ESPECIALLY for the two sessions starting in late June (and NASA SHARP asks for school ending dates). Who has been accepted to the residential(notcommuter) component?

S was rejected, too, for the second year in a row. For those who think that NASA SHARP is a shoo-in for URMs, S is a URM with SAT scores in the 97th percentile, good grades in tough math and science courses, and a demonstrated interest in science.

There were 1,400 applications for only 140 residential apprenticeships.
