Nasa Sharp

lol... I finally got my call. The guy researched my name and found my parents number... Called them, said he's been looking for me for 4 days and I had to call him from schoo on my cell phone. Interview went ok!

Did any commuters get phonecalls/interviews?

That's what I applied for, and still no mail and no phone call. Gee, I think i'm loosing sleep over this :P

Gotta stop refreshing this page.

lol you aren't the only one losing sleep, i still have to be interviewed! i hope they didn't give up on me or something...

Same here - tho I've kind of given up hope on SHARP because of the insane acceptance rate.

aww don't give up yet. i don't think they've gotten around to everyone yet

heyyy i finally got interviewed! some stats (i asked the lady)
abt 25% people are interviewed
abt 80% of the interviewed are accepted.

that means you have an 80% chance of getting in after the interview! ... just like everyone else...

interview went well...she seemed really nice =)

Yeah, I haven't been able to focus on anything at all. I keep thinking about it, and I can't fall asleep. I'd love for them to just surprise us all and not reject anybody who got an interview:) But, I doubt that will happen.

yep...april 15 is too far away...i wish they all just took a package of bawls and finished the decisions like...today...or something =)
(only joking - well...not entirely but still)

oh...and apparently tehy had called my house last tuesday for an interview...we just never recognized the name on the callerID and never picked up...yea...stupid us...

thanks wishful_thinker, now the interviewee acceptance rate is no longer a mystery.

I'm still hoping for an interview....
Has anyone from NY been called up yet?

umm, 80% of 25% is 20% of all students; but acceptance rate is 10%...

1/4 * 4/5 = 1/5. Does that mean 20% of people who apply are accepted?

DAMNIT i didnt read simfishes earlier post. O well, but yeah. I dont think acceptance rate is 20%

the acceptance rate is 10%...

okay...well that's just what the lady told me so sorry then. she said "about 25%" for the first part and she definitely said 80% of the people interviewed are accepted (well not exactly but still). so i'm guessing that it's really 1/8 of the people that get to be interviewed?

eh, whatever, they're stats. they'll change every year and they don't really help me right now because i just want to know the decisions.

if we get the acceptance letter, will they immediately tell us which university we are going to do research at?

yeah, probably

CALLING ALL NASA SHARP HOPEFULS

um, I'm REALLY interested in going to SHARP, I have the stats and my teachers love me.

Thing is, I'm an Asian male.

Isn't SHARP only for underrepresented minorities and groups? (Hispanic, African-Americans, etc)

well...it depends on alot of things that i don't even know about.

i'm asian too (but female...).

i read your profile on an rsi thread (are you still considering sharp even though you got into sharp?) -- you have the stats and the research...so unless there's some extra factor that they're looking for, you should be accepted. did they call you for an interview yet?

"are you still considering sharp even though you got into sharp?"

???????????????????????

eh...edit**: are you still considering sharp even though you got into RSI...
[that's what i get for editing my post too many times and forgetting to read it a last time...]
