Well, I am more interested in engineering than the science/math offered at RSI.

I hate to say it, but the prestige of RSI may just make me go there anyways. Besides, they have Comp Sci and Physics.

don't think that because you're an asian male, you can't get into sharp....it's not only for URMs; it's just that they make a point of trying to attract them.

wow, RSI. drool

Hi guys!
I have been thinking about this a long time and it occured to me that maybe there are more spots than we originally had believed. The only numbers that MTSI has told us so far are; 1,460 applied, 25% are interviewed, and 80% of those interviewed are accepted. If there were twice as many spots available as last year (I'm really hopeful!) than the numbers wishful_thinker had provided would be pretty close to correct. If this is the case, than about 25% of us would be interviewed (about 365) and 80% of the 365 people would be accepted (about 292).

Wouldn't this be great news for all of us, if it came true?

hey what did you guys say for challenges you had to overcome?

just curious...

When I asked the guy who interviewed me who got in, he said that they were accepting 140 and the ratio of interviewers to acceptees was 2:1.

Meh. Did any commuters get any news yet? It seems like it's all residential people talking.

Thing is, my younger brother got accepted to SHARP but will not be 16 until August 19 2005.

They accidentally accepted him and he (being a bit of an idiot) applied for the heck of it.

You think that he can get in? What new rules will apply to him?

Wait he already got accepted? He got an acceptance letter?

no idea about your brother. i know htere'll be liability issues....

oh and my obstacle was really stupid - time managment. i had 7 APs this year, tennis team, and robotics -- where i stayed after almost every day in sept/oct/nov/dec/feb/march. sooo it WAS an issue because i have perfectionist issues....and yea. stupid wasn't it? it was impromptu...give me a break

liability?

The only obstacle is supposed to be the labor/payment issues...

okay then...i guess you're right...i wouldn't know...

bleh... reject for me (I'd like to blame it on my male-asian-ness, but I really can't)
I was residential. Just got the mail today. Good luck to all, and enjoy!
There were 1400 applications and took 140 (exactly 10 %)

Is the chance for commuter higher?

It seems logical.

it really depends on the area i guess (for commuter). i know in titusville, FL, NASA basically has open slots for peopel -- there's no competition at all. but i'm sure somewhere else there is more comptn...

Has anyone received a call today? Could the interviews be over?

no idea...it looks like i was the last one to be interviewed here on cc but i dunno if they've totally stopped interviewing...

I think interviews may be over...The guy seemed really urgent to finish them up.

i hope not.... do u kno if there was only one guy doing the interviews?

yeah i think it was just mr. strandquist

I've heard other people comment about being interviewed by a lady. I forget her name but I know the guy that interviewed me was Mr. Strandquist.
