NASS decisions

Does anyone know when the NASS decisions usually come out? I just got my acceptance to West Point's SLS but would rather go to NASS. Unfortunately, I have to send in my check and forms in by April 1st if I plan to attend SLS. I applied around February 13th.
Does anyone know if I should get the decision before April 1st?

We’re at the same point with my son but for AF’s SS acceptance which we need to decide/pay for by March 31. Last year with my older son he found out on March 6th that he was accepted, which were the first ones we saw on the boards as well. I’ve heard this year that they may be a bit behind due to weather issues, and of course you may not find out in the first “batch” of acceptances. But we’re hoping for early March as well!

The decisions will not be out for some time yet.
The USNA is backed up with applications-
the numbers being reported are in the neighborhood of 17,000, which is 2k more than last year.

I didn’t get mine until mid april back in '07 if that is any help to you guys.

My son got his letter of acceptance to NASS today!

Our summer vacation just got planned for us…and we are glad.

Tim

I just got in today too! I’ll be going to the June 19th-24th session for sure, and I’m trying to squeeze in West Point’s SLS seminar too, but I’m having some scheduling conflicts

My son received his acceptance letter today as well. I have a question, though - it doesn’t state for which session… Does that mean he gets to choose?

Thanks!

My son’s letter states: “Congratulations! It is my pleasure to inform you that you have been selected to participate in Session 2…”. So they made it clear right off the bat which session he was in.

They require that you rank the sessions in order of your desire to attend. And there are finite spots…I can’t imagine why they would not state which session he is scheduled for.

You might try calling the admissions counselor number given on the acceptance letter.

Tim

Also - just noticed:

On the “Accept/Decline Sheet” you are told to circle the “Session Assigned by USNA”.

I don’t think they intend for anyone to be choosing their own session, beyond the choice given when you registered initially.

You better contact someone!

Tim

Also, if you go to the site to pay for the tuition, listed on the letter and enter your candidate number and name, it’ll take you to a page that shows how much you owe and which session you were selected for.

The short answer is “no, not beyond the candidate’s original choice.”

Conversely, while this is likely not the best time to be inquiring about NASS scheduling, if/when candidates have emergency need to request a change, USNA is usually accommodating, as they are able to allow changes. But …this should only be in case of emergencies for most candidates.

One speculative caveat: There may be enhanced flexibility for candidates fulfilling special needs of the Navy. In any case, as necessary, won’t be penalized for asking.

That’s all very odd - my son’s letter, which is clearly an acceptance letter (they gave him a candidate # and access to the USNA “selected” website from which we downloaded the media release forms, etc.,) makes no reference whatsoever to a specific session…all 3 sessions are listed at the bottom of the letter, with “fill in the bubble” circles next to them…
I did not bring the letter to work with me, but I’ll figure out whom to contact tomorrow.

Thanks for the input…

Well, may I ask. Is your son among the targeted “needs?”

In asking, I confess to wondering if this might be a new, additional flexibility being provided by USNA to specific, highly attractive candidates?

You may be leading us into virgin territory. ;)

Interesting question Whistle Pig, but how would we know what those needs are, and whether or not he somehow fulfills them?

Hi:
I was wondering if those that were accepted received both email notification and US mail notification. We were out of town for a week and had a ton of mail that I am afraid that I may have not sorted through well… oops!

Unless the procedure’s changed of late, no email notifications. Pure snail mail …

You might want to call and inquire, explaining your scenario. Remember, busy as they may be …they work for you.

Did your son receive notification via US mail AND email, or just US mail?
Thanks!

Thanks! I appreciate your help!

Snail mail only.

Tim

Snail mail only here too. Which is strange because last year my older son got an email about a week before he got anything in the mail.
