Thanks nursey... I'm at school right now & our computers are a little goofy, so I think I'll have to try it at home (besides, I think it's gonna want PSAT score & that's at home 'cause I don't remember it)

Yes. There are those who go to NASS who realize it is NOT the place for them. Plus, from what I'm told, NASS does not guarantee an appointment to USNA.

Yes, he should keep pursuing. They're very geographical and want a good representation. If your area is saturated, he may not be invited. However, hang on to these postings. LOTS of good info.

If they don't invite him to NASS, tell him to write and keep asking.

Only two others from my sons NASS squad made it to an academy, one decided on USAFA and the other is also at USNA. nurseypoo is correct, they make it clear at NASS that just because you are selected for NASS by no means will you be guaranteed an appointment.

A lot of getting accepted for NASS also has to do with getting the application in early. They only take 600 per session so the slots fill up very quickly.

Good luck to all applying to NASS…the next cycle begins!

Yes, the next cyle-- Class of 2012! At the rate I'm going it'll be a cause for celebration if I get to apply for NASS the way my computer's going (yes.. the saga continues- if you say my earlier posts), know where the application is on the site now, it just isn't coming up! Just my luck!

Go to another computer! It should be coming up.

Dang technology! :D :p

volleyball ... feed your chipmunk. He needs to run a little quicker on that wheel.

Same here. Son applied 12:01 a.m. on 1 Feb 2006. Heard 10 April 2006. Deadline was 12 April 2006. He dragged me to a Notary Public 15 miles down the road that Sat. afternoon, dying that his "YES, I'LL BE THERE" response would be too late . (We learned they all said that and there were PLENTY that came after that 12 Aprl deadline). Went to NASS 3. Came home with more USNA paraphenalia than his drawers would hold. Wore his USNA tee to bed near EVERY nite until apptmt received 15 Dec. Went to Oct CVW, one of 6 or 7 visitation (by invite only) weekends USNA had. Got his app done by late August. Took and retook SATs, ACTs working to better scores. Made sure he was taking toughest Sr. year schedule. Appled, went to Boys State.
Contacted MOCs in April re: nomination process. Completed all in early Sept.
Received nom in Nov. Got apptmt. in mid Dec. Started flying immediately upon receipt. Has not landed yet. Doing pushups in prep for 27 June 2007 I Day. What a journey! And it's only just begun.

SAT results should be in around mid Feb. Would you recommend waiting until then or going ahead and submitting applic. for summer seminar with old PSAT scores. Math 63, Verbal 64.

I say git 'er done. Submit A-sap. Send the scores when they come.

So, are you saying you can add the SAT scores to the summer seminar application later??

I'm not the authority, but I'd be amazed if they would not receive them and update your pre-application. You'll find that within the process, these are bright, reasonable people who play by the rules but don't allow those to get in the way of enlisting the best possible group. They're looking for those who can follow orders, address details, and ... who do well on the SAT/ACTs too. In fact, the evidence shows in the regular application process, they will take your TOP scores, no matter how many times you've taken the tests AND they will mix and match from your SAT and ACT to enable your strongest possible position.

I read on another thread that we can get invites as early as a week from now, anyone else heard this?

I would doubt it, but it would be nice. I hear that USNA is the slowest service academy for making decisions on such issues. I believe that AFA and WP have already made some decisions on their SS.

I've heard of people who were accepted into NASS by the third week in February. Unfortunately, that's not when most applicants get a response.

WP already has for sure(I'm going), and AFA has already at least called people for interviews, suggesting that they have made decisions already too.

Does USAFA interview people for admission to their summer program?

I am not sure Whistle Pig. Son went last summer and never had an interview, he was just sent an acceptance about a week after he applied. I have seen others talk about interviews for it on this forum, though, so it is a possibility.

I heard that they interview some, but not all. It might be up to the ALO

I read that they accept the top 25%, interview next 50%, and reject bottom 25% of applicants.

Has anyone recieved a response from the admissions office yet? I haven't been home for a week, I'm hoping it will be waiting for me when I get back...

Nothing yet.... crossin my fingers though...
