I would say that we still have a while yet, I mean it is still February. Hopefully soon.

re:USASA like others, our daughter had no interview when she was accepted to USAFA Nass for 05

and as I've stated previously - it was a technical email glitch that got us an email acceptance to NASS along with 400 others by the end of Feb. ( This was NASS 05)

I didn't get my NASS acceptance until a week after the money was due, so I couldn't go because I had already purchased my plane tickets for the other two. Hang in there. It is true that navy takes forever on everything. I almost died waiting for my appointment to come.

YOU almost died? Man...come talk to me about waiting when it's your second time to apply, and you haven't heard anything 10 days AFTER the day they tell you all appointments should have been received!

THAT was torture, the Navy way, at its finest!

You definitally have one over me. I was just whining.

not sure if it was said..but USAFA does conduct interviews for their summer program..the interview is not required, but is recommended and definitely helps your application.
and on a side note--if you go to NASS first, and then go to USAFA's summer thing---you'll have your mind made up between the two after the first day at air force. No question USNA is the better academy!

also--i think NASS invites go out in March--that's when I received mine last year!

I take it that you did both, e11wemzer?

does anyone know how many applicants there are for summer session?

I've read several places 5-6K ... 1,800 invited.

Well it's March! Some of us will get a response within the next 30 days!

:D

..Yay.......

And don't panic if not ... ours came in mid-April, and we know of others who got theirs' latern that.

You're on USNtime now.

I think we found out in April.

Haha, a few days after applying to NASS I got an informational pamphlet in the mail detailing the program. Just seeing the Naval Academy Crest and the words "summer seminar" were enough to make my heart skip a few beats, but opening it revealed it was just another pamphlet.

HAHA! The same exact thing happened to me! My mom always puts the pile of college mail on the computer desk, and I usually just sift through things and then throw it all away. But then one day, I see "Summer Seminar" and I thought there was no way I could have gotten a letter so quickly -- the USNA is way too slow for that!

And then it was just another pamphlet. =P

They're saying maybe this week on another NASS thread.....

sorry for the late reply--Yes, I did both seminars @ USAFA and USNA

and as for numbers
@ USNA, there were a little over 600
---not sure if you wanted the numbers for air force..but anyways
@ USAFA, there was about 350ish

To clarify e11's #s ...

USNA ... 600 participants/session X 3 sessions = 1,800 admits (from about 5-6K pre-applicants)

When I went to Summer Seminar there were kids there who found out a week before the program started that they had been accepted. Also, according to the Air Force Academy, 47% of everyone who attended the Summer Seminar at Air Force in 2005 ended up getting appointment and went to academy in 2006. There were no numbers like that for Navy though. Going to the Summer Seminars does help out in your admission, but it is not a promise you will get in or not. I noticed that many of the squad leaders from Summer Seminar at Navy had not attended the Summer Seminar. My particular squad leader applied and was not accepted for the seminar, but got an appointment and was one of the top plebes in the Class of '09. As for what e11wemzer said about attending both seminars... It is true. If you go to Navy first and then Air Force, you will end up like me and not even finish your application to the Air Force Academy...
