^^Are you going to reuse it as one of your 500 word essays?
And I’m doing 4 for Match, 15 colleges in total (12 privates, 3 UC’s). Is this too much??

^No - I wrote new essays for the Match

I can’t handle anymore right now so (today) I’m doing 3 for Match - & only 9 colleges in total (8 privates, 1 UC - but that may change if I get to visit any other schools in the Fall.

Just making sure. Those short-answer questions are really only 30 words MAX?

Ugh I’m really worried about teachers recs…does anyone else have them yet?

Yes.

And I registered both of my teachers, but only talked to one of them. I still need to talk to the other one. You can always edit after adding them to the rec list.
And I decided to apply to 15 colleges total…the next 5 months are gonna be brutal =[

Gahhh same here i have like 14 on my list so far (though i might be taking some away). Really i am so scared for the months to come. But the hope of getting a scholarship even without questbridge really keeps me going.

So i have a question. I’ve heard that it’s a yes but i just can’t believe it. Do you know if we can interchange CommonApp and Questbridge essays? Like any Quest essay you want and put it on the CommonApp/ a school supplement? I really need to know guys so if anyone has even the slightest clue please help!

^ yeah I’m pretty sure most schools let you copy/paste between QB and Common App essays, as long as it’s “your own work”.

I’m applying to 9 schools… I’m amazed that some of you are going for 14 or 15 schools! Which schools are they? (Ju_liaa or tomjones or GetToCollege or whoever else out there lol)

Here’s my full list:

QB Match + RD:

MIT

Stanford

Yale

Wharton

Columbia

+Brown
+USC
+ASU or OSU or LSU or something. any safety school that would give me a full ride

Btw are you guys gonna have all of your teachers do all the recs at the same time, or first QB and then later the others by Nov 2? (like Common App)

I think it’s going to be less then that actually. Like 9 or 10 schools. I’m in the middle of editing the actual list right now. But Wharton, SUNY Binghamton, BU and Stanford are on it for sure.

And I’m doing all at recs at the same time.

PS Is there any way of applying specifically to Wharton through Questbridge?
and does wharton include international business?

Or other partner business schools such as Yale Business or Standford Business? I have no idea.

tomjonesistheman: And I decided to apply to 15 colleges total…the next 5 months are gonna be brutal =[

I applied to six colleges - five QB - one private. It was all I could do to get the paperwork/interviews/deadlines/FA/etc. done for that many.

I am here to say that it will be more than 5 months of brutality if you go RD. I didn’t get acceptances until January from the private, early write in March from Swarthmore, and all other results April 1st. Not trying to discourage anyone - just getting you ready for the reality of senior year. It is a roller coaster of anticipation, hope, dreams, let-downs, depression, elation, oh I believe just about every emotion you can think of. You will be stressed out beyond belief at times. Do not despair!! You are not the only ones and just think hopefully this time next year you will all be writing the next QB group about your experiences and the fact that your dreams came true!

Again read the QB site carefully and the partner schools. This will help you to prepare all that is necessary and you will not be in a crunch. If you have questions go ahead and email QB. They may take a few days to get back to you but they are great about doing so.

I wish you all the best of luck. I did not mean for this to be a negative post. I want you all to know that you are about to enter one of the most intense years of your lives. Plan and keep your heads up. You can do it!!!

@Ju_liaa: I saw in one of your earlier posts that you said you could find QuestBridge Scholars on Facebook? I was wondering, do you know any who applied and were accepted to UPenn- or more specifically, Wharton? If you don’t mind, could you PM me their names?

@Mare_Crisium: I do know, personally, some QB scholars, and one is going to UPenn this fall. You can easily access the group by searching “UPenn Questbridge Scholars” in the top corner on Facebook. They’ll likely all be more than willing to chat with you. :)

@Ju_liaa: As I said in a previous post, you must apply separately to Wharton. As it isn’t a QB partner, this would have to be done ED. As you clearly want to go to an undergrad pre-business school, why don’t you think about ranking those with such programs first. Then, maybe you can transfer into the school (if you get matched to Stanford, for instance).

whoah wait wait, if we rank Penn, it’s for the CAS? I though we can select Wharton on the supplement and keep it all within the QB process

@flyingllama: Oh woah, I think you’re right! I mixed it up with a different school, where you must apply separately. Thanks for catching me on that.

But for future reference, there are universities. with separate applications for special colleges/schools. Make sure you DOUBLE CHECK each one you plan on applying to. My sister accidentally made this mistake and received admission to a college she didn’t want to attend, and was therefore unable to attend a school she did like.

hey do you guys know if British Literature, an english elective, counts as a real english class? My school counts it, but my school is also pretty stupid. No one goes to selective colleges so my guidance counselor knows nothing of the requirements. The reason I’m asking is cause I was wondering if I could use that teacher to write a rec. The colleges and QB say the recs should come from teachers who taught you in core subject areas so I was wondering if brit lit would count. Thanks :)

@isjny09: hey that class should definitely count because it’s still under an English core curriculum. I’m getting one of my recs from my AP Psychology teacher so i know that that’s ok…

PS is anyone here having to fill our a noncustodial parent waiver? Cause i dunno if you have to send it wiht your quest app of just if you’re a finalist.

@lsjny09: Here is California it is part of the core curriculum. Most schools want 4 years of English, and I don’t think Brit Lit is considered an elective by any standards. The AP English Literature curriculum is a British Literature curriculum, designed as a senior year class.

@Ju_liaa: I’m sure the AP Psychology rec will end up being okay, but most college don’t consider that a core class, but as an elective. Perhaps you should contact your partner schools and ask, because you don’t want to mess anything up! That said, I’m sure if your school considers it core, then you can probably keep the rec.
