National College Match - 2009-2010

crystal, IMO, you have two choices:

1) Get a new teacher to write the LOR

2) Make sure this teacher includes language that says, “I had Crystal in my ninth grade English clas and she was blah blah blah. But the greatest part of our relationship was formed on the tennis courts and through my role as sponsor on the debate team.” And then she goes on and on about how great you were in those areans.

If Yale specifically says getting your ninth-grade teacher to write a LOR is a mistake, then, personally, I wouldn’t do it.

AAHH kill me. I finally got my bio essay to magically flow out of my head, and it’s

801 WORDS.

I condensed it to such an extent that i literally have no deletable words T_T
mothereffer. Guess some changes are in order…

@Youdon’tsay: Yeah, except for the fact it’s too late to do anything about it now. She’s already written it and finished the recommendation. I am so nervous.

I’m pretty sure Brown is a binding partner.

BTW, I emailed QB about Yale and the automatic consideration for RD if you rank them. Apparently, Questbridge forgot to update their website, as Yale has changed their policy for this year. As of now, the only schools that will automatically move you to RD if you rank them and are not matched are: UChicago, Columbia, Penn, Stanford, Princeton.

FYI, ds started pasting in essays tonight, and they are all longer in the QB forms than they were in Word. Trims ahead.

uhh that makes me want do die.

Okay, well basically my top two choices are Columbia and Brown. I plan on applying to Columbia ED as that is my definite top choice. I was thinking, should I do the National College Match and rank just those two, in the hopes of having a higher chance of getting matched at either, or go forth with applying to Columbia ED? Which would give me a higher chance of getting in basically?

YUUSSSS 798
hell yeah.

I’m at 707.

Life is good :-)

Did anyone upload a photo? If so, is it suppose to appear somewhere or display on the website that the photo was uploaded correctly?

Yeah you’re supposed to be able to see the photo. I don’t really have a conventional picture of my face up though…wuteva. A little creativity never killed anyone.

When ‘reviewing/proofing’ your app in HTML - just click on ‘View your current personal photo’

QuestBridge wants our test scores faxed. However, I took the ACT last week and plan on it being my best score. I want to submit that score. The score will be posted online on the 28th of September. Can we just print our scores online and fax them in. I know the time constraint makes it almost impossible, but theoretically could I fax in my ACT score on the 28th? I also plan to fax my subject test scores. Can I print those online and fax them in?

@anisem: unfortunately, the latest test scores they accept for the sept. 30th deadline are the June ACT and June SAT. So, I do not think you can submit the ACT. Unless you know for sure otherwise. Yeah, im disappointed because my Sept. act scores will be much higher, and I won’t be able to submit them.

I know I asked this a few pages ago, but is ANYONE sending in additional recs? I’ve been researching like crazy and haven’t found anywhere that says I can’t…but I just want to be certain that I can before I make my person write one and then not end up using it.

^No, I emailed QB. They say they do NOT want additional recs. You can, however, send in additional recs to individual colleges.

ZOMG I AM SO HAPPY.

There’s a list of like 125 college councelors coiming to my school to give info sessions and they are counting them as visits/ showing interest!! AHHHH Northwestern, Notre Dame, Penn, Trinity, Haverford and Bowdoin are all in! AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH

I am bursting with joy. I hope that you guys have stuff like this at your schools. If not, there are always conventions in the major cities and those count just as much!

So…can anyone answer my question?

hmm well I think that the extra QB essays will give you an edge.

columbia only reads the QB essays in the match round. if you apply RD, even through QB, they only read the normal columbia app stuff. so this is your only shot to give columbia the whole picture.

@Obstinate: The second round (match process) of the QB program is essentially RD. By doing QB and ranking both schools or just Columbia, you’d be going in with a much more extensive application along with the opportunity of getting the massive scholarship.
