I would go online and check his college board profile to make sure they have him as Hispanic.
I’m pretty sure he marked hispanic on the PSAT form. It is what he always marks when he is asked about ethnicity on forms. What’s on his profile now, doesn’t matter.
I just want to warn others that self-nominate that their school may not accept them as “official” school recipients of NHRP. The school counselor has been adamant that the HS cannot recognize his award because the college board will not put him on the list of recipients for his HS. I thought the issue had been resolved last fall when I sent the school the documentation that he was a NHRP scholar. The issue is now again coming to light at graduation because he wasn’t recognized at his senior awards ceremony. The school did finally agree to count the award as an advanced measure for a distinguished diploma.
It is also unfortunate because his award will not be reflected on his high school’s “report card” which lists the number of students receiving NHRP and NM awards. My thoughts were that the HS would do everything possible to increase these numbers but that seems not to be the case. For those interested, his school is a large public HS in a suburb of Houston.
