So i just recieved a letter from Fordham in the mail today informing me that because of my National Hispanic Scholar distinction i am eligible for the Semifinalist scholarship which is a full tuition scholarship. As you can imagine i was ecstatic, who wouldn't be? Anyway, farther down the letter it mentioned that in order to receive this scholarship you must also be in the top 10% of you class. I am in the top 15%of my class with a 4.09 weighted GPA and a 2050 SAT score 710 CR 690 Math 650 W, but am retaking them again in November. Do you think that being in the top 15% would disqualify me from the scholarship? I'm pretty sure i missed the top 10% by only .1 or .2 on my weighted GPA.

I don’t know. There are more ways to skin a cat however. Submit your application RD if you havent submitted an EA application. Submit the CSS forms immediately. With your excellent SAT scores, something tells me you will get what you need to attend. Not a promise or guarantee since I have nothing to do with that and don’t work for Fordham. But just a hunch.

Is there flexibility in the class rank? Maybe. But if not, then perhaps they will find other funds for you. Congrats and keep focused.

Thanks i submitted my application EA the other day and plan on going for a tour sometime soon. I’ll try to speak with the financial aid department then.

just an update, I brought my SAT scores up to a 2090 sent everything in and got the scholarship with my admissions decision. I’m 90% sure i’ll be attending Fordham in the fall!!

Congratulations!

thank you :)

Good for you! And given you are 90% sure you will be attending, I recommend you come for a visit to one of the accepted student days so you can see firsthand what you are getting yourself into! ;)

Thats what I’m planning on doing. I did a quick visit in November with my parents and loved it. Everyone seemed so friendly, even while eating at the dining hall. I’ll probably go back on the admitted student day on February 23, by the way does anyone know what kind of activities they plan for the admitted students day. Given all this i’m 90% sure o i’ll be in the Bronx in the fall I just have to wait and hear from my other schools to get back to me to see if I get anything comparable (probably not) or if I get into Princeton (again probably not)
