@jerzmaster yep, I am a citizen.
Yeah Iâve heard about that. Sadly I only got a 202 so hopefully thatâs enough

1440 with SI of 215 in Minnesota. What do you think?
What is the purpose of repeatedly posting these long lists of scores? Once you know where the 98/99 percentile break is, anything over that is also 99 percentile. These lists are cluttering up the thread.
To those who asked about concordance tables, this does make sense. When you do this, some of the lower 99 percentile scorers seem to correspond to last yearâs scores which are quite a bit lower in the percentile rankingsâmaybe around 94 percentile. The reason for this isnât clear, but itâs cast some doubt on the accuracy of the concordance tables.

730 - Math - 98th Percentile

What do you guys think?
@jlutgen15 I think you are in good shape, but close enough that youâll need to wait the 8 months to know for sure. 1420 is a great score and Kansas was about in the middle of the nation last year with the PSAT scores.
@MrAustere I think youâre in good shape too! MN did a little better than KS last year, so 1440 should be very competitive for NMSF. However, it is all so close and uncertain that youâll really not be 100% sure until you see a letter next fall. I donât know if Iâm cheering you up or just depressing you.

One possible way to estimate the cutoff, based on what others have said, is the following. Take the lowest score that is 99th percentile for each section. In 2014, that would be 760M / 730R / 730W. Adding that up, you get a 222, which is just a hair below the toughest stateâs NMS cutoff score.
If you look at @EarlVanDorn 's chart, you see that this year 730 M / 700 V is the lowest to get a 99th (user) percentile. 70 * 2 + 73 = 213. So, itâs possible that a 213 SI this year is equivalent to a 222 SI last year. Which would obviously make the cutoffs a lot lower than what some of the (pessimistic ) people are predicting.
@jerzmaster This helps, thank you!
Just an invitation to parents of Class of 2017. Weâd love to have you stop by the parents thread and introduce yourselves if you arenât already there:
Sometimes we even talk about things other than test scores.
@mathyone - So you are suggesting that the concordance tables might be a bit too harsh, that the 2014 equivalent Selection Index scores they produce are on the low side?
@MrAustere, what are your section scores (the ones that have a max of 38)? I will be happy to convert them for you so you can see how you did on a âlast yearâ basis and then you can compare that to the 215 cut-off. Probably more helpful than giving you that âpredictedâ 218 from before.
@theshadow , one small flaw with your estimate is that one is based on two 99 percentiles, and the othe based on three. It will always be more rare to hit that 3 times, than 2, so in your example, the 222 would be rarer than the 213.
The concordance tables from the college board are preliminary. Final tables will come out May 2016. My belief is that the preliminary tables are not accurate, but no one knows for sure.
@mom3eps
My daughter got 1430 but her SI is 212, not 215 as your table. Her friend, got 1420 but his SI is 213. I donât understand the relationship between scaled scores and SI. Help!
@SLparent Scaled scores are 2 categories (math and reading/writing). SI scores are 3 categories (math, reading, writing&language). The scores correlate, but are not exactly the same. A score of 1200 could be several different SI scores and visa versa.
SI scores are weighted more toward English skills than math skills⊠so it sounds like your daughters 1430 may have had a strong math skill relative to the student who also had 1430 with a SI of 215.
Will a 1470, 221 SI make semifinalist in CA?
