@DoyleB, agree.
1500 225 (NJ) My Daughter
@MomNJof2, can you provide subscores as it looks like the 1500 was math heavy based on SI
@slaudsmom, where do you find ACT merit scholarship information as we have twin DDâs who each scored a single-sitting 34, and we are deciding if they should lumber through another round
@Chembiodad Thereâs only three ways to make a 1500. 760 math 740 verbal yields SI of 224. 750 on both yields SI 225. And 740 math 760 verbal yields 226.
37 reading 37 writing 38 math is 224 SI. Scored 740 on verbal and 760 math
@DoyleB, yes just realized that - band gets much wider at my DDâs 1440 / 219
@Chembiodad Google byu scholarship matrixâŠit adjusts only slightly year to year, but they are pretty firmâŠif you have the GPA/ACT combo, the scholarship is yours. If you get only a 1 year, it is not renewable, but with good college grades you can apply for a current student scholarship each year. But the 4 year much less stressful because the GPA needed to maintain is less than the one needed to get the current student scholarship. Most of the UT schools have a similar matrix qualifier that is easily searchable.
@slaudsmom wow your daughter sounds exactly like me! 34 but retaking for a 35, BYU, interested in Stanford, National Merit hopeful⊠Haha. That BYU matrix is so competitive. My parents and relatives were so surprised a 34 wasnât enough for a full scholarship. Apparently BYU gets plenty of applicants with 34s thoughâŠ
@Studios99 is that you Audrey? Too funny! Yes the 34 ACT good enough for a 4 year anywhere in UT, except BYU. I will cross my fingers for both of you when you retake, or maybe the SAT will be better. BYU takes the better score. You 2 should be roomies.
@slaudsmom totally! Good luck to your daughter on the retake!
A lot of discussion here centers around the Cobb numbers and specifically Walton. From just a quick glance at the numbers, one should assume Walton is some sort of âMath Factoryâ as they are one of the few schools on the list with math scores that are noticeably higher than reading/writing. An average of 740 on Math for the top 100 students? Thatâs impressive.
SLparent "Iâve been compiling some scores for the last few days⊠Itâs not a perfect list⊠"
Thank you for putting this list together. This really puts the variations of SI for the same score in perspective. I knew there could be different SI scores for the same score but I didnât realize the SI would vary by so much. Based on these scores posted a 1430 could be an SI of 210 - 216.
My daughter, a junior, in California: 221 (38, 38, 34.5)
@paveyourpath Youâre welcome! At this point, trying to figure out NMSF would only involve SIâs and not TS. Like someone had said, there are people with lower TS will make the cutoffs because they are stronger in verbal and will have a higher SI than someone strong in math⊠perfect example is my daughter, higher total score than her friend but lower in SIâŠher math score is higher than his and his R is higher than hersâŠisnât it supposed to be the other way around? Girls are supposed to be good at reading and boys are good at mathâŠAt least thatâs what I hear LOL!
I will update my list as I get more people turning in their SIâs and state.
AZ 1460âŠ218, know of a 1490âŠunknown SI
A list of scores from CC posts is, of course, gonna be wildly skewed! We could try to make our own concordance using other scores, though - old PSAT, old SAT, maybe ACT.
GA daughterâs SI 226 (old PSAT SI as a sophomore was 233; SAT score as a junior was 800 M; 800 CR; 80 on the âwritingâ multiple choice)
GA daughterâs friendâs SI (confirmed) between 224 and 226 (only know that itâs a 1500 TS)
@Mom2aphysicsgeek , I think most of them would have done just fine with a test prep book. The ones who may benefit from tutoring are those with little self-discipline. My sophomore did some of the Khan, didnât find it that helpful, mostly listening to it while she worked out. So I heard some of it and I wasnât too impressed. She was too busy to spend much time with the prep book and I didnât push it too hard because of lack of materials. She did extremely well.
Regarding the same scoring scale between PSAT and SAT, they could simply have scaled the PSAT to make it concord exactly with expected SAT scores. There was no reason to make a different scale with a lower ceiling when the CB knows full well that fall semester juniors, heck even middle school students, can score 800s. My first kid took old SAT about 6 weeks after old PSAT and scores were pretty much identical.
If someone is still compiling:
D '17
IL 223 / 1490 (740 EBRW / 750 M, 36 R, 38 W, 37.5 M, -5 R, -0 W, -3M (-3C, -0NC))
@SLparent - you attributed several 220s to me. I donât know actual scores. I believe it is one 228, one 226, two 222s and atleast one 220 (my S) and probably couple of more 220s.
