rlvj.
dont you mean => , not <= ? They have to score at or above (not below). Typo, I assume.
And WA_homeschooler,
I have bever heard of the scores going down from one year to the next, but I suppose ya nevah know (as they say..)

No, I did mean "<=", since we're looking for state cutoffs.

Post #227 reports that familymcclure's daughter made Semifinalist in TX with a 217. But since states sometimes go down (seven did last year) it could be lower, thus TX..<=217. OK?

We are splitting hairs here. But when people on CC want to know the cutoff score, thye want to know if they made NMSF (ie at or above the cutoff) not if they missed it. We are looking at the top 5%, not the bottom 95%, right?

When someone report he is 229 in XX(state), and "in". that doesn't mean the cutoff in XX state is 229, . so Rlvj put XX <=229 is correct.
I believe when the other reoprt 225 in XX, and "in", he will change to XX<=225, util a person reports to him, say " I am in XX state, 224, "not in"", then Rlvj will put XX=225.

jeffwu96: Exactly. And if in your example the second report was 225 out, I'd put XX..226-229.
jym626: But you're right that it could be clearer. If we get more, I'll do them like this:

2007 cutoff is:
AL. .. <=212 . . . no change from 2006 Program
MO. . .. 214 . . . up 1
TX. .. <=217 . . . no change

P.S. Anyone know how to get the vB 'font' code to work, so as to align columns without the periods?

Does someone know about semi finals going to public press?
Does that means the local newspaper?

rlvj:

OH 215 in, 214 out. so it is
OH....215

Well, we have not heard from school yet, but the first letter from a university saying "we reserved NM semifinallist scholarship in your name" just arrived today.
My guess would be you need to check your mailboxes for similar letters. My son's score was very much above 222, so it does not really give any indication about the cutoff in our state, though.

anyone know the cutoff for california yet?

Here's what we've got so far:
2007 cutoff is:
AL . . <=212 . . . no change . . see post #231
MO . . . 214 . . . up 1 . . . . . . see post #234
OH . . . 215 . . . no change . . see post #247
TX . .<=217 . . . no change . . see post #227

Since this is only my second post, I don't know in what order these show up. But someone on page 16 said they got a letter in Texas from their headmaster. Please say that again. Are you saying that you got the letter yesterday, August 24, 2006 and your daughter made a 217 and she made Semi-Finalist! My son made a 218 and we live in Texas also. If that is the case congratulations to you and me! I'm so excited my hands are shaking as I type this.

Ohio - Saw the master list today at school 215 was the lowest score on the list. know of someone who had a 214 who was not on the list, therefore Ohio does infact have a cutoff at 215.

Do the cutoffs ever go up by more than 2 points?

rivj,
I see what you are doing. Thanks for clarifying.

If anyone knows the 2007 cut off for OREGON, we'd love to hear it, my S might barely make it.

Az...<=219

Anyone know the cutoff for WV?

Anybody know cutoff for VA? My S got a 217. Not sure if he will make it.

Spohm year I got a 156, then as a junior i scored a 187.
Up 31 points : )
I qualified for the NHRP : )

north carolina, anyone?
