I'm applying for the fall, 2009 and I can't quite figure out what in-state, National Merit Sholars are awarded these days. I think it's as follows:

4 - 1K renewable annual scholarships
1 - 1K research stipend
Honors program/Honors dorm

Is this correct? Also, does National Merit standing still entitle you to priority registration? If yes, is that for all classes/all years or just honors classses, etc.? I heard (from another applicant) that it has changed and is no different for National Merit vs. Honors. Any information would be appreciated.

Thanks!!!

Unless there are changes for 2009, you have everything correct. Maybe you will get lucky and they will go back to the big scholarships that were given prior to 2007. Nat. Merit students get the first day of regular registration for all 4 years - which pretty much lets you pick your classes and schedule. The exception is for the Honors classes you take and all Honors students have the same shot at those - the registration for those is before regular registration and you can choose one each of the two days open for Honors registration - no other classes are open for registration on those days.

Forgot to mention that your first semester at UF, you will not get priority registration. You will register at preview with an advisor - they do have honors students' groups at preview, but you probably won't get the dream schedule that first semester.

Thanks for the repy! Even if it doesn't go back to pre-2007 awards, it is still an incredible deal in conjunction with Bright Futures. Priority registration is a wonderful incentive and makes the idea of the number of undergrads far less overwhelming.
