I got a 2080 on the June SAT (740 M, 680 CR, 660 W), and a 35 on the June ACT (35 eng, 35 math, 35 read, 36 sci).
Obviously, I'd rather submit the ACT, however I need to submit the SAT score for national merit.
I got a 223 on the PSAT and live in MI
1) How exactly does this SAT submission for national merit work?
2) Will colleges still see the SAT because of the national merit submission?
3) Will the discrepancy between the PSAT and the SAT scores cause me any trouble? Should I take the SAT again to fix it? (I didn't prep at all for this one)

1) they just use the SAT score with your eventual application in Sept/Oct. when they announce semifinalists to choose finalists. But you probably don’t have to worry about raising your score since out of 16000 semifinalists there are 15000 finalists.

2) no, colleges won’t see your SAT score unless you send it to them

3) probably not. I was in a similar situation (PSAT 221, SAT 2130, ACT 35) but i still got finalist and now I’m going to school on a national merit scholarship.

Question 1: National Merit has a code just like the colleges and you just request that scores be sent. Agree with SU on 2 and 3.

thanks guys!

The minimum score to achieve finalist status is rumored to be around a 1980. You are perfectly safe,
