DS's Financial Aid Tab is not reflecting the NMF $1000 scholarship yet. He is starting his sophomore year. When I called the FA office, then said it will appear later and that it had to be approved by the NM Foundation. I am worried that DS forgot to do something. Is anyone else's NMF scholarship showing on their account? If so, what year in school are you starting?

Usually my son would receive a letter from National Merit in the summer asking him to list his GPA etc. They just want to make sure you are in good standing with the university academically. As far as the date the money would come in it varied every year and often was late.

Hello, I know this is slightly different but I am hoping some of you can help me out. I am an incoming freshman and I won the NM one time $2500 scholarship. However, I knew from CC that the $1000 a year is available, and obviously I would prefer that. But everyone at USC has told me that I have to accept the $2500, and my USConnect says i have the $2500. Basically…I need help!

My D is an NMF, back in May the paperwork came in giving her the option of the one-time $2500 or the USC sponsored $1000 per year. You can only receive one or the other. As it appears you are listed as a recipient of the $2500, it may be too late to change.

Interesting that some received the option to receive the $1000/yr instead of the $2,500 one time award. My S received the NM Scholarship for $2,500, interviewed for and received the Presidential 1/2 tuition scholarship. When he received the $2500 offer from NM in April, I called USC and they told me he should accept the $2500. No mention of the $1000/yr.
