so i received a letter from the National Society of High School Scholars in the mail today asking me to join their society. It claims to only recruit top academic students with over 3.5 gpa.

I dont mind paying the membership fee. i just want to know whether faxing in this invitation to the schools i've applied to would help me in any way in the application process this late in the game.

has anyone received this invitation? is this legit? does it help at all in college admissions??

please please please help :D:D:D:D

“Top academic students” have a GPA much higher than 3.5. This sounds like one of the many organizations that exists only to take money from people who want to put 5 million awards on their applications.

This question is asked frequently, do a Search for relevant threads. Short answer, don’t send them money, don’t sent colleges the invitation.

ARISTA?
Honestly, I don’t think colleges take these High School Scholar societies seriously, and I like that they don’t. If your SAT scores don’t back up your GPA, your membership won’t matter.
Heck, I wasn’t part of some pseudo-intellectual scholar organization and I easily got into Wesleyan University.

I was invited to that my sophomore and junior years… my parents probably threw it away cause I didn’t get one this year. In the end, it means nothing. It’s a real society but I don’t see the point.
