National Youth Leadership Forum on Medicine

Hi. Im a sophmore in highscholl and i was "invited" to go to this. Has anyone ever gone? How was it? Was it worth the 2300 Dollars? What do you do? How did you pay for it? The reason I ask the last one is because my family doesnt have the type of money to just give me 2300 dollars for a 10 day trip.
Thanks

Common Anyone?

Since you sound so desperate...

I've gotten so many of those but if you convince yourself enough, you know its not worth the cash and is just a grain of salt on college applications. Unless you're really interested in the activities and the speakers, don't put a hole in your parents' wallets just to head out to D.C. for a week.

Think of less expensive/free long term activities you can do to enrich yourself and add an EC to your resum

I agree with highlander12. These sorts of trips are more money-making functions than those that are great for your resume. Realize that most ECs that involve direct payment to someone may not be the best ones. Continue doing the ECs you are involved in instead. And save that $2,300 for the high costs of college. By the time you're a senior, the cost might be up even more.
