National Youth Leadership forum

Are the National youth leadership forums any good to go to? Or are they just another scam to get your money? Do colleges see this as a good thing? Would this help me in get into top schools?

it would certainly stand out if you dun have any particular honors or disctinction. However, unless you write an outstanding essay based on this experience or do something as an impact from it, no, it won't have a dramatic influence in your application.

but again, beefing up your resume can't be bad? I really don't know what the National Youth Leadership forum is... however I think this topic has come up be4 and majority replied its not a big deal. and sure, colleges do see it as a good thing but I doubt that it will distinguish you and be the determining factor if the adcom had to choose between you and another applicant

but would it be worth the $2,000?

whats it cost to just say you went?

Just say on your application that you were nominated for it...

what do you mean? lie? They would definetly find out considering they have like things that they send out to colleges to confirm that you completed the program.

But, would colleges really care that I was nominated? Wouldn't it actually hurt for me to say that? Would they see it as a bad thing that I didn't attend? Plus, where on a common application and I put that?

No don't put anything about being nominated for it because it's really not that much of an honor. My math teacher talked about it with the class and he said he'd nominate anyone who wanted to go... so a nomination isn't worth much, but the experience is good because it shows an interest in that subject.

so, if I put that I was nominated would that be bad? And where would I put it?

You can put it down but I doubt it would help you. and it would go in the accomplishments/awards/honors section if there is one.

The program is definately not a scam, but at the same time, it's a pretty minor accomplishment in terms of college admissions. I know people who have been to some of the National Youth Forums and all of them have enjoyed their experiences and thought it was worth the money. Basically, go if you're interested in the topic and the events, not just because you want something to add to your resume.

So, do you guys think I should even say that I was nominated? Would they be bad?

"So, do you guys think I should even say that I was nominated? Would they be bad?"

lmao...dammit...do it if you want to...it doesn't matter...stop worrying about it...
