National Youth Leaership Forum?

What exactly is this? It's a week in February during school but it does have an impressive list of people to meet. I got invited for the National Security one. Has anyone else here been to it?

I haven't been but ive heard about it. I was invited to it also and it seemed quite fun. One of my friends went to it and she really enjoyed it. She said she learned a lot and would do it again in a heartbeat. I can't really remember everything she did or exactly what it was about but Google it and see what comes up.

@Exhiniugh: Bwahahahahahaha! Just what I've always wanted! And totally relevant to the discussion at hand!

As fr the OP, I think I got letter invites to their medicine one, or something -- this is the thing where you ave to cough up lotsa money in order to participate in their little workshop, right? Yeah, from what I've heard, they're grossly overpriced and not worth it, but having never really been to one, I can't provide you with any definitive answer.

I searched for threads on this yesterday. This one is helpful:
<a href="http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/parent-cafe/347434-national-youth-leadership-forum-worth.html?highlight=national+youth+leadership+forum+on+security%5B/url%5D">http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/parent-cafe/347434-national-youth-leadership-forum-worth.html?highlight=national+youth+leadership+forum+on+security</a></p>

I don't know that I'd call that thread helpful as the first few pages are of people who have never actually been to a conference.

The bottom line: if you go, you have to go because you WANT to, and not because it's good for college apps or because it's prestigious.

If you go with the right attitude, you'll have a wonderful time. I did.

I went for one on medicine last summer and really enjoyed it. I chose to go because I'm interested in medicine, not so I could put it on an app.

There were three true benefits to going: I learned a lot, met a lot of new people (in our sub-group of 12-13 people, there were 5 countries represented), and had a really good time.
