<p>Hey there, I was just wondering if I had a decent shot at Yale. I am a registered Native American and have a 31 ACT. My goal was a 33, but I have a ton of extracurriculars, community service, and a few regional, state, national, and international art awards to make up for it. I also performed at Lincoln center with my school one year. I was just wondering if being a Native American was a hook and if it could make me stand out even with my low ACT? Im working on my Yale essays and I think they are coming along very well. Let me know your thoughts! </p>

<p>Since Yale really does seek a diverse population, I’d say that being Native American would indeed help. And don’t feel bad about your ACT score- that’s not the only factor in your application! Think of the score as just one chapter in a big book. Work hard hard on those essays and I bet you could have a chance- mind over matter!</p>
<p>Thanks for the advice =) Does anyone know what the Native American community is like there? What kinds of activities do they do or how they stay connected with their culture? If anyone attending there is Native American I’d love to know what you think of the vibrant cultural center and the Yale community.</p>
<p>Hello OP, not to discourage you AT ALL from applying to Yale, one of the most wonderful schools in the world…but you may want to apply to a couple of schools since they are so selective. Dartmouth has a reputation for outreach to Native American students. I don’t know anything else other than the information that they have had a historic outreach effort to first peoples but it would be worth looking into so that you have more than one target school. You sound like a great candidate for many top schools. Best of luck!</p>
