Son got his today as well in the mail. Due by April 15th or you lose your slot.

Still waiting in Austin, Tx. The admissions department was quick in their response back to my request about my application. More patience required on my part. Tonight is "opening night" for Texas baseball, a WIN might take my mind off the process for the night. A NO HITTER might get me through the entire week. Go Timberwolves, beat Georgetown. Again, CONGRATS to all who have received their acceptances. GO NAVY !!!!!!!!!

Hey guys I sent my application in last week and got my acceptance letter yesterday!!! I'm so excited! I'm going to be attending session 3, so anyone whose attending the Naval Academy Summer Seminar session 3 let me know because I think it would be cool to get to know those people who I'm going to be attending the session with. I can give you my email address or you can look me up on facebook: Shelby Heinzler. GO NAVY!!!

couyang: NASS is a much "kinder and gentler" time than Plebe Summer, but they do want to give applicants a small idea of what it would be like to become a Mid. There are generally two academic seminars a day, based on the choices you made on your applications.

If they do things at all like two years ago, there will also be a range of physical activities. My soon-to-be-Youngster (!) said that one of the things she really liked about NASS was that they were always doing something. They played sports for hours on the first day while waiting for everyone to arrive. They did some PT, and they did part of the Endurance course ("E" course).

They also did an official CFA (Candidate Fitness Assessment). If you come to NASS in good shape, your CFA score can count for your application. Don't worry about "How good is good enough?" Just work out every day so you can do your best and have fun.

I recieved my E-mail April 5th, I applied one minute into 8am Feb 1st, and I recieved my packet on monday! SESSION 2!! (:
Can't Wait!!

Time Machine?

;)

Welcome to "The Twilight Zone!"

Your host,
Rod S.

WP, Your Twilight humor is lost on all but us old fogies!

Hey, we're not old, we're recycled "retro." ;) Watch for me on American Bandstand. I'm the "A" in the Village People! and I moonlight as the Duke of Earl on beebop reruns! Oh man, where'd it all go ...

I just received my registration packet today (never recieved an email, and have been accepted into USMA SLS Session II).

I just got my acceptance to session 3 in the mail! I never did get an email. Not sure if I can go because Minnesota Girl's State is the same week. I guess I'll find out after my interview tomorrow.

Tell them that, if you get a "go" to Girls State. Ask if they'll change your week. Nearly always will.

P.S. And in the event you go to USNA, you might wanna change your handle, partner. Could be a loooooooong week otherwise ... I hear Goatgirl is still available. ;)

Unfortunately, session 3 is the only one I thought I could make. The other two sessions interfere with AFA SS session A. What?! No one has claimed Goatgirl yet? Go figure :D

Thank you to everyone who sent private messages and posts over the past few weeks in response to my postings about not having gotten a response from the USNA about my application. It would be an honor to serve next to any and all of you if the opportunity arises in our future. How much better could it be having comrades who cared equally about each other as themselves. I, too, didn't receive an e-mail but I received my letter of acceptance to Session 1 in todays mail.

GO NAVY !!!!!

session 1 for me! anyone else from CO going to the same session?

Question for you all - how many of you have applied and are going to USAFA, USMA and USNA summer seminars? And if you are, and will be missing school ( possibly finals) how are your school administrators handling things? My son has heard from USMA and USAFA and hopefully will hear soon from USNA. If USNA accepts him as well, he will be missing the last two weeks of class and finals. We’re not sure how to approach the school about that many days. This has never been requested before at our high school. There will be several students out for a week, but not anything more. Suggestions?

At my daughter’s high school, it would be no problem, because we have had a number of graduates attend the various SAs, so the administration may not be aware, or in some unfortunate cases, may not support, SA candidates. If your school does not have experience with the SA application process, I would suggest that your son put together an information packet for them, so they can see how important it is for your son to attend, to help him make an informed decision regarding attending a SA.

My other suggestion would be for your son to volunteer to take all of his exams early, before he leaves for the various seminars. If he is fully prepared to take his exams before he leaves, what harm would there be for him to miss the time? It may be necessary for his teachers to specially prepare exams for him, so you may want to acknowledge that cost, and your son may want to make a written statement that he will not divulge the contents of the exams to any of his classmates.

Hopefully all the suggestions offered will be successful as you explain to school administrators.

As a last resort, just in case, this is what worked for some folks we know. The school absolutely was not going to allow their child to miss any more school. So, the father graciously offered to withdraw her. And then re-enroll when they returned from whereever it was they were going. The school quickly backpedaled. The last thing they want is to have outstanding students withdraw. The numbers count against them for funding, percentage staying in school, etc.

We never had to take this step, however I know more than one family who did use this. I cannot imagine a school not recognizing the value of these summer leadership opportunities at the SA’s and being honored that one of their students was selected to attend.

Good luck!

do you get an email only if u got accepted?
if u got rejected, will they just send u a letter in mail and no email?

It seems that not all get emailed, either way.
