I was invited to apply for Honors Program at NCSU. The only additional thing I need to do is write an essay based on the following prompt.

Honors Program Essay

Typical University Honors Program students seek something different from their undergraduate experience. UHP students see their education as involving more than simply attending classes and set themselves apart by focusing on an education based on discovery, inquiry, and creativity. They pursue the central goal of the UHP, which is to extend their undergraduate education by finding unique opportunities among the many diverse resources of a major, land-grant, research university.

Discuss how the goals you have established for your undergraduate education are consistent with the description we have provided of typical UHP students and with the central goal of the Program. If your education to date has included any formal experiences relevant to this description (for example, a summer research experience or a significant independent creative project), please be sure to describe them.

SO, does anybody have any suggestions on what to focus on in a typical Honors Program essay? How is NC State's Honors Program?

My roommate is applying for the honors program too. He wasn't invited though. I talked to a couple students about the honors program, some said thats its okay, while some extremely hate it. They said you're required to take seminar courses and you have this long college project to do. The advantages of being in the honors program, is that you can sign up for classes earlier, and alot of your classes only have about 30 students. You also get to live in the Quad, which is basically dorms for honors students, Bagwell, Becton and Berry Hall (I applied for Bagwell and Becton, according to honors students, Bagwell is the best honors dorm).

Well, i just got a packet in the mail saying that I was accepted for the University Scholars Program... I'm soo confused now. If i don't go to UNC, I will definitly got to NCSU but which one should I choose... pros or cons for both? If i participate in the Scholars Program, I will live in Sullivan. Any info on Sullivan?

Sullivan is on west campus with Lee and Bragaw. Great access to Fountain Dining Hall. Sullivan is a high rise co-ed dorm with 12 floors. The rooms are suite style with 4 double occupancy rooms sharing a bathroom. It is a substance free dorm. West campus probably has a longer walk to academic buildings than central and east campus dorms. S lived in central campus dorm and really liked it's location.
