I have Discovery Day tomorrow. Do I need to dress up, or can I just wear jeans and a sweatshirt? While I’m here posting, I’ve been dying to know how I stand in the application pool and what my chances may be of getting in.
I’m from District 9 (I’ve heard it’s pretty competitive…)

In the IBMYP program

(In Chemistry Honors and Multimedia and Webpage Design (Did not sign up for this lol, it’s such a B.S. class) right now)

P.S. My school doesn’t offer AP’s to underclassman, but another guy at my school applying to NCSSM somehow managed to get one out of our GC, will this look like I’m not challenging myself?

Extracurriculars/ Service:
About 70 hours of miscellaneous service hours. I did start a classroom central school supply drive in my neighborhood which I ran and coordinated.
Varsity Cross Country, Varsity Track, and Varsity Tennis last year and Varsity Cross Country, Varsity Swimming, and Varsity Tennis this year. I was not in any clubs last year, but I am on Science Olympiad, DECA, founder and president of Chinese Club (learning on my own), and Student Government this year. I’m also an IB student ambassador.
Not too many awards, just like Duke TIP and a few other shallow awards.

Essays: Probably Average, procrastinated lol
Recommendations: Probably pretty good, although all of my teachers last year left lol, so I was restricted when choosing.

I think I’m most worried about being behind in math. Not many people in my school do it because it isn’t really an option, but 3 kids at my school are ahead, all of whom are applying to NCSSM. I was kind of reclusive when it came to speaking with my counselor last year, so I never asked about taking advanced classes. Anyways, no excuses, how do I stand from the opinions of fellow applicants? Lol good luck everyone! Only about a month until we find out…!
