ND Mendoza VS. BC Carroll

I got accepted to both, and they would cost about the same amount.
ND is more academically prestigious, and the overall ranking and business school ranking are better than BC’s. However, I want to major in Accounting (and probably double major in finance), and BC was just ranked #1 by business week for undergraduate accounting specialty.
In terms of Networking, both has powerful alumni connections.
However, the location of the two cannot be more different; BC is close to Boston =) while ND is almost at the middle of nowhere. Does the location really make that big of a difference in a business major? If so, how much?
Also, both schools are pretty intense about their sport teams and religion. But I’m neither a huge sports fan nor religious…But BC tends to be more liberal comparatively…I guess.
Which one would you pick if you were me?
I really can’t decide. So, I appreciate any comments.
Thanks a lot!

ok i highly doubt that BC was ranked #1 for anything in business because penn usually gets #1 in EVERYTHING. Yes, LOCATION IS HUGE in business, especially in terms of recruitment. If you want to stay in the boston/massachusetts area then BC would be pefect. I would go to BC

Mendoza is a much better school and you will have no problem finding a job as corporations in Chicago often recruit first at Northwestern and Notre Dame. But if you love BC that much then go there.

EDIT: and your statement about religion is false. Neither school is all that religious. Haha, ND is even having President Obama speak at Commencement this year.

I think location makes a huge difference. Its not that you would not get good internships or jobs from ND, but just that it would be easier to get them from BC simply because of the location!

well the thing is, when obama talked about the prochoice and abortion topic, all the ND students and professors and alums got pretty upset.

Dear solamelx : Please take a look at this thread …

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/boston-college/689881-bc-csom-honors-nd.html

… and see the exchange that I had with vinceh about Notre Dame vs. Boston College. We both brought very different and regionalized perspectives to the debate. In the discussion, we offered some other longer term decision factors that might influence your thinking : long term employment location, MBA prospects, and law degree prospects.

The bottom line is that you will not make a bad choice here and one year from now, you can be assured that you will be happy with either school. Again, please read through the suggested posts and have good luck with your final decision making process.
