On the website for ND summer scholars, it says that attending the program will not affect our admissions at all. However, after attending last year and hopefully attending this year, do you really think it won't help me get accepted?

I would not bank on using this as an acceptance…it does show your interest and I’m sure admissions will note it. However, they are going to consider your entire application. Hopefully, you have presented one that is worthy!

ND’s common data set indicates that Level Of Interest is “Not Considered”. Attending the summer program will not give you any direct advantage. The only excpetion I can imagine would be if you impress a faculty member to the extent that he writes a glowing LOR for you. Even this however would likely be taken pretty lightly since the professor would only have known you for a few weeks.

I tend to think that summer programs are simply a means of using college dorms to generate revenue during the months that students aren’t there.

Which track were you in last year? I was thinking about applying for entrepreneurship or public speaking. What did you think of the program?

I was in literature (that was my 2nd choice) and so I didn’t specifically enjoy the class, but other than that the program was amazing and I’m applying to go again this summer. I would definitely do it

What was your first choice? And did you have some kind of assessment at the end of the program (speech, essay, etc.)? Sorry for all the questions, I’m just trying to see if I should apply!

no it’s totally fine!! and my first choice was law, apparently I would’ve gotten in but the program was filled so I got bumped out based on the order of who submitted first and nope, nothing at the end. every track is different though… I had to read stuff all throughout the week, and I know business had a ‘final’ project. it’s really not bad at all though, most of the tracks didnt have any work outside of their classes. ask me anything you want and don’t feel bad at all!

I’ve been looking at the tracks more and law sounds really interesting too! Does the application ask you for your top choice tracks? And what test scores does the app ask for? I’m worried my PSAT scores won’t be too competitive.

you pick 2 tracks, first and second choice. and I know you have to submit test scores, last year all I had taken was the psats and in my opinion I didn’t do well, so you should be ok! if you want any of my specific scores or stats just message me :)
