Does anyone know of airports in the FSU area other than Tallahassee? Right now I can only find at least one transfer before we end up in Tallahassee from VA. This makes me nervous to think my daughter would have to do this every time she went back and forth to this school if she were accepted.

The next closest airport is Jacksonville. It is about 2 1/2 hours away but from certain markets it is MUCH cheaper since it is serviced by Southwest airlines.
I just don't know how a student would get to/from the airport. For visiting, the parents could rent a car, but I don't think that option is available to students under 25

Pohsmom - Yeah, it is starting to look less likely that we are going to do this one. I just don't like the idea of her having connecting flights on her own. I know she will be on her own next year whereever she is, but one or two layovers just isn't making sense when there are other options that are just as good. Hopefully she will get into one of them.

Just to let you know...a big article came out in a South Florida newspaper about the cutback on flights to Tallahassee. You now have to fly out of Miami only and there is only one carrier with a 30 seat prop plane-and still almost $400. Fort Lauderdale flights are gone and now that route you through Atlanta for over $500. Seems odd to make a Florida state school so inaccessible to South Florida kids.

Flights to south Florida have always been on the scarcer side. It seems like it's much easier to get to Atlanta and then other destinations. (I fly quite a bit.)
Most of the south Florida students seem to carpool when it's vacation time.
