Hi so I applied to UCSD as a psych major but I did it knowing I have an extremely high chance of rejection because I didn’t take most of the classes needed (I mainly focused on UCLA and UCI). Thir psych major is also extremely research and experimental based which I don’t really like. I just recently found out that I actually really like sociology so I’m planning on changing my major for UCSD to sociology which they allow you to do on the portal. The only issue is that I wrote the transfer prompt in the essay section about psychology. The whole essay was centered around psych because I thought I was going to apply to all schools as a psych major. Should I keep my main major as psych and put the alternate as sociology or change my main major to sociology and put the alt as psych. I know psych is competitive and they said if the major is competitive they will consider you for the alternate major. But will I have a better chance for sociology as the main major because I have finished most classes for the major I just didn’t write my transfer prompt about it.
For UCSD sociology major none of the pre reqs are also required so class work wise where as psych has tons of pre reqs that I haven’t finished.
Change the major before the deadline. They won’t care about the major essay saying psych.
@Ohm888 should I email docs@applyucsupport.net to let them know I changed my major to help give some clarity as to my situation or just leave it.
If you changed them successfully there’s no reason to contact them.
