I’m aware that Brown is “need-aware” for transfers, meaning that it is harder to be accepted if you’re asking for financial aid. With that said, is it impossible for someone with a family income below $50,000 to be accepted? Is there simply no chance? Is it so that out of the students asking for financial aid, only the ones asking for a small amount are probably accepted?

it’s obviously not impossible. i have about 1/2 need, and i was accepted. it will be harder (which is a shame) but it is in no way impossible.

Well, the way I’m looking at it is for them to accept someone asking for full pay, that person would have to be TWICE as desirable as someone asking for half-pay, you know? They could accept two people asking for half-pay in that person’s place. And with those odds, I just don’t see any chance of me getting accepted.

Do you think there is any truth to that?

I’ll tell you the same thing everyone else should hear: Stop over-analyzing. If you want to go, then apply and wait a few months.

Both Napoleon and I applied for aid as transfers and were admitted.

You act like applying is easy! It takes a lot of time, and it can be really disheartening to think that I have absolutely no chance. Nonetheless, I AM applying, but it would be great to hear that people with low family incomes actually do get accepted.
