Yeah, I did Summer@Brown, and I think they take everyone who applies, at least for the mini-courses. It's a great experience, though, and I'd definitely recommend it. PM me if you want to know anything specifically.

Which one do you want to go to? Even if the first two aren't prestigious it's still your summer and what you think will be the best option for you to grow as a person, etc. Cliche as it sounds. ^^

a lot of retarded comments... i think you should do the south africa thing because you dont have that many community hours. you can do the harvard thing next year so the college level courses aren't as difficult.

i know a lot of people who have done the harvard and the brown thing.... they actually ARE pretty exclusive as far as summer programs go... naturally they aren't the top but if you are looking at those schools (esp brown) you should think about them. i don't know about the others

if your community service is down and you have the $ i would recommend going abroad and doing community service- i did that this past summer and it was amazing. yea it does look good on your apps but more importantly you just get an insane view of the world and of different cultures- if you have any questions about summer programs, esp travel ones PM me i know quite a few of them

i'm not quite sure that going abroad to do community service looks so great anymore...a lot of admissions officers have derided the whole 'daddy paid for me to go to French New Guinea to help the poor build houses' business. Then again, the whole 6k for one of those Ivy League summer programs isn't looked upon so mightily either.

But, the camps are still fun. Great people, usually interesting courses. I went to the Columbia summer program, which was a lot of fun (dorms were waaay small and the free food is CRAP, but you have from like 4-12 to do whatever the hell you want in NYC). I ended up having 3 all-night gaming sessions because someone brought the Xbox360 and we all got way into Gears of War. And I STILL had time to go chilling with friends afterwards and start a furniture war between the floors.
