Hi everyone. The meal plan application is due in a few days for Cornell, and I'm having trouble choosing which one is best. Any suggestions for a moderate eater (as in I don't eat a lot, but I don't like to starve myself either)?

I spoke to cornell and asked them…they suggested going with the most moderate plan, because you can always go to a higher level plan, but you can’t go to a lower level plan (after the end of august). I’d suggest calling them and asking (call housing)…hope this helps.

Freshman year I started with 14 meals a week but never ate 14 meals. I found myself eating a lite breakfast in my room M-F and grabbing lunch on the go between classes using my Big Red Bucks. So I switched to 10 meals a week which worked out much better for me.

As a moderate eater myself, I would recommend 10 meals a week. Also, here’s something you might want to consider: Central Campus only has one dining center (Okenshields), so if you’re the type of person who wouldn’t want to “waste” meal swipes, you won’t really have many options* at lunchtime (I’m making the assumption that you’ll be in Central Campus during lunchtime because of classes). But Central Campus DOES have a large variety of BRB places that can be more convenient than Okenshields location-wise. I basically chose to use my meal swipes for dinner and for weekends, and the rest of the time I had a lot of different BRB places I could eat at during lunch. 7 meals may also be too little, especially since you might want to eat with friends who have 14 meals a week and therefore eat at dining centers often.

*Just so you know, there are also several dining centers in West Campus, but you’d have to walk down Libe Slope to get to them.
